Saw home and away game, can't remember him at all.  Can't see it, 31 yrs old in November and never played above L1, but has scored 8 goals in each of his last 3 seasons.

I've only just seen their manager is Graham Alexander, didn't have a job last season after Motherwell sacked him.  Will be familiar with a few NW players after managing Fleetwood, Salford etc.

L2 though. That and bottom half L1 is his level. There's a reason a promotion to the championship bound Blackpool let him go for free.

Not disagreeing, but is it a good time to let him go with Toal and Johnston injured? 

At least we get a fee . Evatt bringing him on last game of the season at half time triggered it 

Lee released, MJ offered extension and signs then leaves  for  hopefully a fee (even if small)  now going to MK.

2 midfielders I think will be incoming in next few weeks  (not days) but Morley,Sheehan and Dempsey are a great start to add to.

I like MJ too and also see his limitations.  I think he's a bit underrated though, got more to his game than just making tackles and simple passes.  Your last sentence could be said of 1 or 2 others in the squad that won't be moving on yet.

I agree with that too. We are close to a top 2 team but not there yet.

We aren't signing top notch championship players so have to go for small gains. Hopefully we get it right

Tricky one MJ, but having fairly recently extended his stay (iirc) then I assume Evatt has someone lined up ready to come in.

 

Massive impact when he came in. Good servant but probably not at the level we need to kick on. Good luck at MK MJ. 

Yeah, the same sentiments really he was what we needed in L2 at the time... big part of us grinding them narrow wins week in/week out. Useful in L1 when on the pitch, easy to forget but he played the full 90 in the heart of the midfield that embarrassed Sunderland 6-0 on our patch. Can exit with his head held high & with pride but if we aspire to push on then we clearly need upgrades on certain players.

I still think the Baccus deal will be done, especially now IE has increased the funds available.

Kane Wilson signed for derby.

He hasn't gone anywhere else yet so I guess it's still a possibility but St Mirren fans and the bits I've seen of him suggest he is an 8 rather than an out and out DM. Great engine but doesn't score enough for a 10 IMO.

So whilst we're speculating on "deals that may not have gone south yet" and with MJ's departure, I'm wondering if there's been a development with Florian Flick who is a proper ball playing hard tackling number 6 by all accounts?

"Two footed", 6 ft 3ins, good technical skill and can play CB as well.

Love MJ for everything he's done for us but Florian would be an upgrade. Whether he can be convinced to move to England to play in League 1 however is another story....

That'd be a new one even for us, actually signing someone whilst injured rather than them getting injured in pre-season.

I've just watched the signing interview done by Derby , Wilson claims the deal as been in the pipeline from the end of last season and all pre season . Make of that what you will.
