If that's the case then great, but what I don't want is another load of Ogbeta and Ramsey type players added on loan who are no better than what we have and block youth development

Agree with that. Those players were signed as a ‘needs must’ last January when our squad was massively depleted.  They were, however, a level up on Matheson et al (I don’t think we’ll ever see him as a first team regular at Bolton)

I don’t think they really block any development though. Players who are good enough come through. If anything, they aid it by being another skillset in a similar position for these young lads to learn from at close quarters.

Will he fuck. Serie A is dominated by great defences - it's the Italian way. If Fiorentina put out their regular team against us this weekend we'll be lucky to get nil. Fortunately for us I suspect they won't.

Dominated by great defences 😂

It's rubbish.

Only foreign football nonces like @tomski and @gonzo think it's any good.

Only football I’m looking forward with a bit of Bundesliga thrown in

All perfectly decent back up players to our usual first team squad. I assume this means we have new ones at a higher level set up.

Thought so too - frees up some space and it's good to see L2 interest for them - bodes well for eventually recouping some cash

Evatt did say that Conway may be staying depending upon whether we get in another lwb.

I reckon that suggests he's not far off.

Who know, occasionally when these youngsters are chucked in, the quickly grow into the first team. Thomason certainly did.

i think khumbeni is worth a mention

hes a bit ofa unit and came from norwich, so it might just be me, but i thought he might be a good un...certainly higher hopes than sithole who i believe would get more money at tesco

little did i know, 3? years on, he'd still be struggling to breakthrough

hes prob been the best of the waifs and strays to date based on getting half a season at morecambe, but maybe theyre a basket case

i dunno

I'm fine with any of the 3 left wingback options we had last season. But you do need at least 2 in the squad at both lwb and rwb.

JDC ran out of steam playing so many games despite being one of our better players earlier in the season. Ramsey getting so little time doesn't bode well for his future career. Ogbeta and Ashworth on the left looked streets ahead of him.

There's so many games in a season players can't be playing every single one of them (keeper aside but even then they get rest in the cups)

Ogbeta froze at Wembley, he wasn't on his own admittedly, he was given so much space but just blew it and came across as tentative and nervous, that doesn't bode well for his future when compared to say Bradley, the Wembley game was to big for him. I was happy to wave goodbye to him. Ultimately, he has been signed by Rooney, who will not last 6 months at the Argyle.

Ogbeta had zero support at Wembley.  All the senior players around him went absent.

Only Iredale when he came on looked anything like but even that didn’t stoke the others up. It was just a horrendous day when what it needed was someone of character to kick a few bums and especially that of Rico who was the worst of all.

Ashworth was a puzzling one, thought he looked ok then he stopped playing him. I will be shocked if Ogbeta cuts it in the championship

I am genuinely of the opinion that he'd have done a job here.

Obviously I don't know the full situation but I think that was a miss.

5:15pm on Friday is on the horizon. The time we publicise new signings in Summer 2024.

Yes that's the distant sound of straws being clutched at!

4 x £1million players introduced to the (small) crowd at HT tonight.

i tend to agree and as Blackpool signed him for 240k they've got a solid squad player, relatively inexpensively who still has plenty of development in him. Depending on who we manage to sign, I would have been inclined to keep him around.

Are you on a wind up. Iredale walked over for a corner at 2-0 and I was trying to tell him we were 2 down not 2 up

Can't do anything to convey a concerned persona to the opposition- it might give them an advantage.

Evatt mind games..💣

That's my main memory of Wembley. Shouting at the players to lift the tempo and Iredale comes ambling over to take a corner as if he's out for a day's shopping.

I took particular pride in how cool and composed we were when we got that corner, not getting knocked out of our stride or game plan.  You see these inexperienced types rushing over, barking instructions, all anxious and a bit desperate, bombarding the opposition with frankly disjointed and hurried football.  Great to see us retain our dignity.
