We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

It’s close but, yes.

Comley 10 League Two appearances, White  9 and Darcy 8.

The fact the pair of them were useless, was an early red flag against Evatt. For all Darcy hasn’t yet ripped up trees, he’s just signed for Wigan. Whatever happened to those two?

They both ply their trade in L2. Nowt against the lad but let's hope Darcy's soon doing the same.

I think Sheehan has a job on his hands to get his place back . Vs Northampton Southwood had more touches with his feet than Sheehan did , tho Im not sure what that says particularly as Sheehan is always targeted by the oppo.

Sheehan for me is our most comfortable player on the ball.

I'd be building that midfield around him.

Swansea have just sold Matt Grimes. I reckon we may receive a bid

Nah, not for me. I do like Josh but it wouldn’t worry me if he left. I’d prefer a more ball winning player there which we’re missing. We have others who can do Sheehans role.

He is comfortable on the ball but he's had a role almost created for him further back because he isn't physical enough to compete man for man in the middle of the park. He's usually got time and space (aside from the clattering he usually gets).

I'd be interested to see what he could do as a 10 but it'd just make us too lightweight for me. I think a middle three of Matete in front of the back 4 (which i believe it will be) Thomo and Morley would make us miles for solid. I'd also like to see someone else with athleticism coming in to challenge for a starting spot in the middle with Thomo. As much as i like the lad, he just isn't good enough and he'd probably benefit from being on the fringes a little more until he develops further.

If we could pick up a target man with a modicum of pace then the team would be significantly strongly at the end of the window.

Fuck off Santos while we're at it and we're off.

Well now that Wrexham have signed Sam Smith from Reading (great news in itself for us on Saturday) that leaves Michael Smith at Wednesday who they were also reportedly after, so why don’t we make a move for him instead? Bags of experience and just the kind of big front man we need. Shouldn’t cost much either as his contracts up in the summer.

Etete incoming

Anyone know much about Etete?

I don't think we can expect a ton of goals from him, but his height and physicality especially for League 1 level will give us that extra dimension we have been missing for sure.

just had a google

90 games

9 Goals

Nothing to lose, take until May have a look at him....let him go or sign him on a longer contract

win, win

If he's a big, physical target man type of player and in turn helps some of the others score more, i'm fine with this.

I reckon the only players I've ever known anything about before they signed for us were Anelka and Gary Speed. 😁

I know absolutely nothing about him until he was linked, did the traditional youtube scouting, which as we know is fool proof...

I don't think I've ever been frustrated watching someone's highlights before but there we are!

He reminds me of like a lower league Zirkzee for anyone that's had the misfortune of watching them lot this year. Won't be too negative on the lad, maybe the drop down a league will open things up for him, but for all his size doesn't seem to play with the most physicality, seems to drift himself away from goalscoring positions to get on the ball.

Hope we get him to just focus on getting on the end of the build up play we're capable of and he can do the business.

if he's got a first touch and can hold the ball up better than vic, he'll do, for now

Seems Etete was lined up by Evatt, but approved by Shumacher.

I've just watched the same thing and for a big lad looks like he has some pace and strength which we're seriously lacking up top. Gives us another dimension if he starts and an out ball for games like Tuesday just gone when we simply couldn't get out of our own half.

If we could add another decent centre mid we'll start flying up this league.

looks reasonable on youtube,

head and shoulders above vic.... boom fucking boom!

No point being better than somebody else if you're lay on the treatment table

Real head scratcher this one. Nowhere near ready to contribute and he's now our financial and physical responsibility. The idea of loan signings, is that you need them. But we can't play him until pretty much the end of the season.

If a player comes in fit, then gets injured for a quarter of year, he usually goes back. We've done the opposite. I can't understand it

@MarcIles

Kion Etete joins on loan from Cardiff - but Schumacher warns not to expect too much, too soon.

We can only see how he shapes up, as has been said, Schumacher has no doubt given it the ok over the last few days, so must reckon he can get him doing something useful soon enough.  I do agree though, if you end up doing Jan window business in the last day or two they're usually ones who've been playing, so they can make a contribution over 18 games, not a dozen.
