We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

Grubb's shite.

Push & Pugh are out & out full-backs so depends on the formation.

But Dibble probably just the goalkeeper we need to be fair!

The Pie Eaters seem to have him going there.

1 in 10 over 70 games for Wrexham across national league and League 2

1 in 2 for over 30 for Dundee in Scottish Premiership

Make of that what you will

Sounds wank, its a no from me.

Dalby and Ennis as a couple of new strikers added to the squad? Maybe flog or loan out Nlundulu if he's fit and try and get some cash back for McAtee?

I'd give Dalby a go, watched a fair bit of him on the Sky / BBC Scotland coverage, did well, wants to operate in the box / between the posts, Dundee United had some tidy players who could serve it up for him. Tailed off a bit towards the end but helped them finish 4th and qualify for Europe.

Can see why the likes of Wigan and Blackpool might also fancy him

Its not a prolific goalscorer we need though but someone who can lead the attack, score a few but bring others into the game and to be fair at 6’ 3” and a physical type I’d say that’s just what we need so its a yes for me. If we can get an Ennis/Jellis type in as well we’d be cooking on gas and no big fees to pay for any of them, just competitive wages.

I agree we need physical presence/target man but I’d prefer the ‘big man’ to offer better than 1 in 10. I’d probably get 1 in 10 in League one and  at 6ft 4 and in reasonably good shape pushing 40, do you think I’d be in with a shout for the gig?

You never know, give Fergal a call. 😁 Seriously he may not be prolific but could be the physical presence we need to bring the likes of Collins, McAtee and Randall more into things. I’m not suggesting we only bring in the likes of Dalby, we need more than one proper striker but they cost a lot if they’re any good. Maybe we could also try an offer for Langstaff at Millwall who might fancy recouping some of the £700k they reportedly paid since he’s done little there. We paid more than that for Collins, Macca and Randall so surely it’s not beyond us?

Stoke reportedly likely to loan Nathan Lowe out again, but to L1. Would think there'll be plenty of takers

Let’s just remind ourselves about the standard of league football in Scotland.

The abject failure that is Scott Arfield relocated to the Scottish Championship in January and scored nine goals at a rate of 1 every 96 minutes!

Since regaining fitness, Jack Iredale (who should have been retained) has been an ever present rock in 3rd place Hibernian’s defence.

I’d prefer to judge him on his performances in England. Not excited about this rumour.

I wouldn’t take him unless it was no recall. Arsed having a player who can be recalled if he gets any good

Loans often only happen towards the end of a window - eg Lowe might want to try to get into the squad in pre-season (he played 10 championship games for them from Jan).  There will be loads of others in the top 2 divisions who might only decide to leave when the club sign a striker in August and push them down the pecking order (same may happen here to Nlundulu for eg).  If we want these players we might have to be patient, and that goes against the clamour for getting signings in early.  We might sign someone we think is as good as we can get, then Wigan or Blackpool end up with a better striker at the end of August just because they'd waited.  Works both ways of course, but the 3 month transfer window won't be straight forward for SS.

Quite right JR it’s a tricky thing to get right but I’m hoping that Schu and Fergal have already worked out a shopping list and if the players on it are available there’s no point in waiting. Of course the players themselves if they’re in demand can be the hold up as they solicit the best offers. As long as we have the right ones in by the end of the window we can’t really ask for more.
