There are question marks over so many players futures for me. I'm probably being dramatic, but apart from maybe Morley, Forrester, Southwood (backup) and probably Thomason, I think the rest of the squad could well be offloaded  if it's possible.

Surely Southwood will be 1st choice keeper.

Not a chance if he brings this lad from Chelsea

Every player Schumacher brings in will start simply because they are his players and not Evatt....If he is happy with players from the previous regime he will not replace them

Reckon you can probably add JDC to the list seeing as Schuey tied him down for another year.

See there are some whispers over Forrester leaving on here, what’s the deal? I like him, but people need to stop pretending either him or Johnston are full back options.

Yep this Chelsea lad will be expected by SS, himself and Chelsea to be starting every league game. Southwood will be Cup keeper and back up, unless this lad turns out to be a Billy Crellin rather than a James Trafford.

SS didn’t tie him down for another year. He had an option for another, which JDC opted to take. SS and the club had no choice in the matter, because JDC had the required number of appearances.

JDC is another who isn’t at the level we require, IMO, but we need a second RB anyway, along with a second LB.

Who’s the first LB?

How do you know this?

Because it was stated in reports, at the time. Cogley took up his option of another year on his contract.

Okay, but it seems to have been reported as us agreeing a new one-year contract

I can't see any reference to him taking up an extension and he himself described it as a joint decision

Who knows

My no1 hopeful target was Poku this summer from Peterborough.
Available on a free I would happily use the Collins money against his wages.
Birmingham are in for him though I think.

Evatt should have gone after Oxford.

Last season was like a weird, bad dream. Like every week we were waiting for something to happen, shite possession based (with no end product) football. So bad that at one game over 5k season ticket holders didn't show.

Everything "not right".

Re defenders, Forino or Toal can go for me. Forester as something different (fight) the type of shaven headed nutcase look of man who will head an opponents ankles to block a goal.

Collins scores goals, so can afford to be lazy(ish) because the goals he scores he "creates", Macatee shoes nothing, his goals have been "whoever was on the pitch in his shirt would have scored" goals.

We have to possible great wingers if they can stay fit. Tutu and Mencez Gomez.

Wingers who can hopefully cross the paul for the Scottish/Welsh bloke to head in.

Just opinions - agreeing with your overall point that it just wasn't right last season, from day 1 - but my take on other points:

I like Forino and Toal (and Forrester), I don't think there's anything to choose between all 3 in terms of defending well, they all have good qualities without being perfect (L1 after all).

Both have an eye for goal too, not many CBs will score as many as Toal, and Forino seems to have that ability, also looks like a good leader/potential captain.

Collins doesn't score enough that he can afford to be lazy, 12 is just par for the course for a striker that starts nearly every game.  Not sure he creates his goals?  Two headers from crosses (Bristol & Blackpool), tap in v Burton, easy goal at Cambridge, finished good moves at Mansfield and Huddersfield, 2 great assists by Randall - yes him! - v Brum and Northampton, bad back pass at Exeter etc....I do like him by the way 😀  And he can shoot from edge of box which is great, but we can't pretend they are flying in very often.

Agreed on both the wingers you mention, if they can stay fit, they both have something different and unpredictable.

Whilst I agree with most of this mcatee’s finish against Birmingham at home was quality, along with his first touch

McAtee had some quality finishes - Orient was very similar, that one at Northampton, and was it Crawley?  The header at Bristol, there were others.  I don't particularly rate him but the notion that we can't afford to lose Collins whilst we must dump McAtee is a strange one, there's not a lot to choose between them in potential goals per game (Collins is more creative/talented when on his game).

Only decent player we had second half of th season and probably the most consistent player of last season

Its about time we had one of those discussions on whether JDC is any good or not 😀

We could all save time and just re-read the chat about who would get player of the season.  He hasn't kicked a ball since so all opinions remain valid, he could stay another 5 years and we'd be having the same conversation (hard to think of many players that most would agree on, now that Etete has gone back!).

I would like an improvement on JDC but it's down the shopping list could do with at least a decent B team right back to provide cover and perhaps work his way into the team

Jdc is a no thrills player who 8/10 games does exactly what he's meant to.  We need more like that..

Of all of our problems - JDC is probably the smallest.

And I don't just mean because he's only 5'9''

I honestly don’t see Forrester going, he’s a warrior/die hard and that’s exactly the type of blood and guts centre half we need. Paired with Taylor adding some much needed height, I think they’ll form a great partnership. I really rated Forino at the end of last season, trouble is we only see him for 20 games a season. Same issue with trial. Out of the two, I’d be looking to offload toal if possible.

JDC played 41 matches the season before last, & was in the L1 Team of the Season. Last season, 39 games. Always competent, never shirked & wasn't getting himself into a tizz, nor booked every other match.

Is he World class ? No. Does he deserve to be unceremoniously booted out ? Again, no.

We'll see if he fits Schu's plans but thete are others need showing the door more quickly than him.

He actually looked miles better overnight when SS came in and in a couple of games was  our only real threat. Had a stinker at Wrexham though

No way I’m buying that, 5ft 7 at best. Midget material.

if he’s 6ft then he needs to get on a dirty bulk and pronto
