We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

Whens the retained list released - thought it was yesterday/today ??

Evatt was holding talks yesterday with all the players who's contract was up - he was telling them whether they're staying or going...

Meant to be publicly announced in the next few days...

I just thought of it as an innocent joke about cannonballs.

Dead commedian never came into my head until his objection- I even went checking to see if the player had had testicular cancer! 🤣

how much must he have made in lower league football to become an amateur

Guy obviously can’t cope with the pressure atm.

Good luck to him, he needs some peace of mind.

Fair play to him. I couldn’t help but notice how much of a target he was for League Two clubs. Got kicked a lot.

Can only imagine it will be much the same at that level. I wish him well.

These are all contracted for next season...

3 Gordon
4 Williams
5 Santos (2 seasons)
7 Delfouneso
8 Comley
9 Doyle (2 seasons)
10 Sarcevic
16 Greenidge
17 Darcy
22 Politic
25 Thomason
26 Edwards
29 Lee

Gordon, Comley & Greenidge can't be expecting much from it though. Amazed if they don't move on.

I hear there's one or two out of contracts who we may have expected to leave who prob won't

Inc a centre back

And one or two contracted who may be made offers to go

Same here, but his wiki just says he's had covid

I'm still trying to work out if "not called for" is a pun or not

These names will be interesting reading, it’ll give a flavour of the quality we’re looking to bring in.

Did I say that? Sign a few players like we did this season. Sarc and Doyle for example and if we get a few loans from Premier League clubs like Dapo that will do

But you did say  "Clubs get rid because they believe the players are crap or too expensive. Championship players who are good will be too expensive and we don’t want to take chances with crap or injury prone again".

How did Sarc & Doyle not fall into that category when we signed them?

And if Championship players who are good will be too expensive, surely that applies even more to Premier League players.

Looking at Brockbank’s Twitter, I’d guess he’s been offered a new deal

https://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/2021/may/wanderers-reveal-retained-list/

Shaun Miller, Arthur Gnahoua, Sonny Graham, Callum King-Harmes, Muhammadu Faal, Jak Hickman and Jamie Mascoll will officially depart the University of Bolton Stadium at the end of June while second year scholars Markus Assarsson and Nathan Whalley will also leave.

Loan players Billy Crellin, Declan John, Dapo Afolayan, Lukas Jensen, Ben Jackson and Zack Elbouzedi have returned to their respective clubs.

We would like to thank the players leaving Bolton Wanderers for their efforts throughout their time with the club and we wish them well for the future.

Talks regarding new contracts remain ongoing with Alex Baptiste, Harry Brockbank, Ryan Delaney, Matt Gilks, Lloyd Isgrove and Andrew Tutte, while discussions are also taking place with second year scholars Ryan Colvin, Jay Fitzmartin, Fin Lockett and Luke Hutchinson.

Miller maybe unlucky, bit surprised Delaney and Tutte in discussions given did not get games later in season.

List generally makes sense onwards and upwards.

I heard months back Graham wasn't making the most of his opportunity

Shame

The fact crellin has remained on the payroll, which that would imply, is staggering.

if he’s not working in asda on the checkouts or similar in a few months time I will be amazed. Never been a footballer in the memory of man.
