Smiley Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Very sad. Also seen a young lad was stabbed multiple times in a Bolton nightclub last night. WTF? Quote
MickyD Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 (edited) My lad was in said nightclub. He was stabbed with a broken bottle.Edit = The lad who was stabbed, not my son. Edited January 1, 2017 by MickyD Quote

gonzo Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 (edited) My mate ran over a cat after 3 pints in the saddle pub. He felt that bad he went back and took it to the emergency vets nearby on whitegate drive. The cat didn't make it and it cost him £90 to get it put to sleep. He got pulled 20 yards from his house and done for drink driving. 18 month ban, £90 vet fees and £200 fine. Edited January 1, 2017 by gonzo Quote

MickyD Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Anyone who thinks they'd be under the limit and therefore safe to drive after three pints is a fucking idiot. Just saying like. Quote

I have 5 pints and drive all the time. I just leave a little bit in each one and lick a 2 pence piece before I set off. Quote

Smiffs Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Not that I would because deliberate and reckless drink driving is up there with noncing in my book but I could drive better with a gallon inside me than most the pricks I see every day. Quote
gonzo Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 The day after is where it all becomes sketchy for me. If I have 3 pints I know I shouldn't really be driving home. Have 8 and drive 8 hours later when you feel fine? Worries me big style. Quote

Another reason why in a different thread I've decided to cut down. Might feel OK the next day but am I?? Quote

After plovdiv away, a standard Friday and Saturday then an all dayer for wigan away on the Sunday drove to work Monday morning definitely still pissed Nearly missed my junction on the m56 and pulled off a move that I'd never consider again to get off involving going from 3rd lane to slip road between lorries that world definitely have me banned if a cop had seen it Was shitting myself for about an hour after but at the time it seemed like a good idea Quote
Smiffs Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 (edited) You'd need a brandy after that! Daft things you do when you're younger I suppose. Drove back from qpr about 20 years ago convinced that I could get half pissed before the game and would be perfectly sober by 6pm. Wouldn't even consider one now. leigh white Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Tiredness is also a danger, having a rake of ale on Friday and Saturday night, then driving home early on Sunday. Quote
Alf Hartigan Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 reet, it seems this has turned into a thread about driving (probably my fault) by far the worst problem is speeding, every new car is pretty nippy these days, and folk are driving like cunts more than ever before. Quote
MickyD Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 (edited) I reckon the biggest danger on the roads are drivers who don't look for potential dangers. Driving on auto-pilot is an absolute killer. Who hasn't driven a familiar route and get to a point in the journey where you recall none of the last few hundred yards? We all do it I'm sure. When in fact we ought to be scanning every bit of road, from as far away as you can see to the corners of your car wings and even behind you, constantly. It takes a hell of a lot of concentration to be able to get to your destination knowing you did so in as safe a manner as you were able. One of the best courses I ever did at work was the Emergency Fire Appliance Driver course. A week in a car learning to drive safely and at speed; overtaking manoeuvres, danger signs, general defensive driving. Then put it all into practice at slower speeds but in a vehicle ten times the weight. We used to have days out in the Welsh Mountains, Yorkshire Dales or Lake District. Happy days. I get home from the match and forget I've even been on the m60 for 20 mins It's often only the smell over Barton bridge that snaps me out of it Quote
