MalcolmW Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 Coventry RLFC played in the Northern Union from 1910 to 1913. In their final season they drew one league match and lost all the rest. They also lost in the first round of the Challenge Cup each year, to Warrington, Oldham and Salford, respectively. Quote
Escobarp Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 Which club most likely to be franchised off to Coventry as Wasps? None it's about expansion so they would I believe enter like Toronto with a view to super league becoming 20 teams in two divisions or so I've heard. Maybe bollocks Quote
Casino Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 I'd be amazed if super league went to twenty teams  There's not enough money for 12 Quote
Salford Trotter Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 The fact that all the major clubs in the game are all based just either side of the length of the M62 (Catalan excepted) so to expect the game to flourish in other areas is ambitious to say the least. I've often wondered if Bolton started up their own franchise how successful that club would be in drawing fans from around the area or have Wigan/Leigh sewn that fan base up? Â Â Quote
DirtySanchez Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 How many union fans follow the club teams?  Seems they only like the England games  No worse than overseas man utd fans Quote
Sweep Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 How many union fans follow the club teams?  Seems they only like the England games  No worse than overseas man utd fans  Union club attendances are higher than League club attendances  I get the point about the internationals though - similar to cricket, nobody really gives a fuck about club level, it's all about the international team Quote

Sweep Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 Could they not just merge a couple like Wigan and Leigh, which would free up a space? Quote
