If it is then he should go.

I can't imagine he would be that stupid/morally reprehensible - but the truth will put I suppose.

He confirmed it to the House today.

Aye

was poor judgement and we all know how politics works by now.

A shame, because he was the dull, plodding grafter we needed (ignore the screechers, he’s actually done ok on most things)

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t want to see him get potted. He’s a pretty ineffectual old buffer and who knows what sort of whirling-eyed socialist might replace him?

Lammy doesn’t fill me with confidence.

Rayner would be box office on here though 🥰

I can’t see a natural successor. Certainly not one who will keep the Labour Party on message.

That decision not to let Burnham run might get mysteriously overturned

Good call. He could keep it together.

Get Lammy in

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I have no clue how that clown has made a success of being a politician. I don't think I've ever listened to him speak, and thought "I'm glad he's helping run the country"

Indeed, I do think Starmer will survive though

See despite all this. I don't see anything even approaching peak Bojo. Let alone Liz Truss.

But we all see things differently I suppose.

It's not even close to the utter shambles and he knows it.

However I expected much better in terms of standards in public life.

I've not caught up on the news yet. But if he's really knowingly employed someone who he knew had visited a convicted sex trafficker AFTER his conviction - then I think he should step down. Personally.

It beggars belief to me that he would make that decision knowingly.

Especially as he's always come across as quite risk averse and conservative in his approach.

Nothing compared to Shabana Mahmood.

To be honest she seems pretty capable.

He just needs an apology along the lines of Barnard Castle then just crack on like nothing happened

It's not like his ratings can get much worse

The only thing that might save Starmer on this occasion is the possibility of his Chief of Staff Morgan McSweeney taking one for the team and stepping down (or being sacked) as a consequence of the Mandelson fiasco.
I think that would only postpone Starmer’s demise however.

I like the cut of her jib. I’m no Labour voter but I’d like to see where she would take the incumbent government. She’s far more “Labour” than Mr Vanilla

Hogwash. I grant you there is an equal and opposite reaction happening now though. Thankfully. People are getting repulsed by the temporary blip in society where malign agitators were encouraging folks that it was ok to be offensive towards minorities, to blame them for problems caused in reality by others. Reform have peaked in the polls.  The leaders have been sussed out as hollow self-serving elites, tinpot Trump’s focused on lining their own pockets not serving the country. Can you not see this? Sad.

It is you who are sad mate. Couldn't achieve one post without mentioning the subject of your unhealthy obsession. You need help.

Reform have peaked in the polls have they? It's the hope that kills you.

Maybe so but the polls that really matter will be coming along soon. You'll keep.

Seems to be plenty of folk "speaking their minds" these days.

Usually saying the exact things they claim they're not allowed to say anymore.

There's a bloke in prison (nice one Sir Keir) for shouting 'Who the fuck is Allah?'.

Are you sure?

No easy answers all things considered, but for now Labour seem to be getting some positive stuff done despite all the headwinds.

 Fucking hell.

Well, i've done ok with having dyslexia - actually works well for copywriting, you sort of come at it from a slightly different place mentally apparently (although I'll never be a proof reader) and didn't hold me back educationally. Did brilliantly well in English.

I hope you were good at your job because your soft skills of empathy, and critical thinking aren't often on display here.

Good? I'll take that as a withering insult.

Critical thinking eh? :D Predicted the equal and opposite reaction on here over a decade ago. Predicted success for Unai Emery (remember that one?). Predicted that a Labour government would be shambolic (not difficult with their track record I know). Hard to be critical?

Rayner. Tax cheat. Yes, that would send a great message

They'll be scurrying to say 'stamp duty not tax!'.

They may then investigate the HMRC tax penalties she's been hit with.
