I reckon Labour have a decent chance of winning the next election under Burnham.

Farage certainly won’t want to fight him & will throw everything at this by-election. It’s gonna be very tight.

Wrong of Starmer not to allow him to stand earlier in the year.

If the by-election fails then it’ll be chaos for Labour

Assuming Burnham does get selected to be the Labour candidate in Makerfield, it seems around 76,000 people could determine the selection of the next or even future Prime Minister. If Burnham wins, he’ll probably win an election contest whithin Labour. If Reform wins a seat that has always been Labour, I doubt anyone could stop Reform winning the next GE.
Anyway I thought this was funny😊

140,000 Conservative Party members decided Liz Truss should become PM... democracy at it's best (not)

You think the media would go easier on Burnham than they have Starmer? Not a chance.

It’s good democracy if you like the Tories though 😉

It probably is worth reconsidering membership voting on party leaders when that party is the governing party

Especially when the MPs voted for Sunak

Correct. At least the public has some say. Trouble is, they are all Wiganers!

Anyway, he could call a GE. 🤷‍♂️

The cyclops[ yes that is the name Burnham called them] Maybe you do not have them yet down South. Bus lanes and putting duel carriageways to one lane.

Mayor of Manchester but everything he awards goes to Wigan

I live in Astley Bridge mate - and have done so for about 20 years.

Feel free to drag up any tweets you like. Go for it. 👍

Is it relevant?

Only in so far as calling for a general election is basically Point A of the pointless political playbook.

Has anyone, ever, called an election because someone on Twitter asked them to?

”Listen here, an opposition MP from a party with 6 members in the house says we need a GE, better get on with it”

it’s irrelevance is it’s relevance, I guess.

Ok.

Meanwhile. It’s all getting a bit messy.

There was a time when you would criticise the “next” government rather than the current one.

Reform are clearly a shoe in, are you not more concerned about them?

There was a time, before they were elected, when I questioned this regimes ability to govern. I haven’t changed my view.

Reform are not a ‘shoe in’

Labour had a shadow cabinet that I thought was worse than the incumbent Tories. That was my opinion whether you or others like it or not. Reform have 8 MP’s. About a third of a governing cabinet. I am not concerned about them. You and the other Labour faithful are.
Why you are going down this pointless route I’m not sure but it’s Friday.😉

Come on Spider, you know full well everyone is on a reset and all previous Tory support is null and void.  All their excellent predictions of a new Thatcher, Churchill, a lettuce, and some rich Indian fella is all tip top (and he was born here and the best of the lot!l)

Did you not get the Farage memo? Losing your memory is all the rage you know?

I forget you get a bit feisty when Reform are mentioned.

Your MO hasn’t changed, I’ll give you that. You criticise Labour 99% of the time. In power or not.

I’m sure once they’re out of power your focus will still be them. After all this time it’s just dead obvious, that’s all. It’s your thing, I get it.

As you’ve said previously, you e voted for 3 different parties but never the reds. I get accused of all sorts when I display any sort of indecision, you need to watch out for Bolty and his Sword of Righteousness. 😊

Im off the booze, sorry to disappoint you, but we all occasionally make a typo. It’s a riposte I assumed was beneath you to be honest, but there we go.

To clarify, you have previously said you’ve voted for 3 parties.
