It's not about wanting to go for a pint with him.

I want him to come across as honest, decent, sincere etc and I'm not sure he does that to enough people. That's what I meant by people not warming to him, he isn't gaining their trust.

Aye, 4 and half years now And I've not got a fucking clue what he's suppused to stand for.

Obvously making U-turns at every turn hasn't helped.

Not being Tory (technically) will be enough though . It'll be a low turn out

its not about going for a pint really, its about charisma - to be able to connect at some level and Starmer isn't a great orator and can sound quite pooterish, and politics - esp campaigning - is as much about heart as it is about head.

Its why some many millions can overlook the obvious shortcomings of Johnson because whilst a poor day to day MP, he is a wonderfully gifted political campaigner. You could say the same for a lot of populists.

There aren't many world leaders that can do both - obvious ones in the modern era are Obama, Clinton, Blair, Macron, Arden - the centre left internationlists generally are cut from a more moderate political cloth and do find that breezy charm with steely centre thing worgs for them ina lot of Western democracies.

Starmer is very lawyerly, comes across as a London lefty and people find that difficult to relate to even though its no different from Blair - although being an MP for somewhere in the North East helped. Thankfully Sunak appears even more disconnected

Perhaps read the recent policy statements or listen to the recent speeches?

But this is what I mean - people get a fixed view and then don't listen to what someone is actually saying which is where that hard to define connection comes into it, and people aren't quite yet getting there with Starmer.

He'll be a better PM than a opposition campaigner though, I've no doubt.

They are not U turns though. Opposition have to make policy objectives and then adjust them as things change. Otherwise it isn’t sensible. The commitment to green policy was clearly unsustainable so they changed it. They will be judged when they have a manifesto to implement and are held to account by the electorate on how well they do it.

Allowing Elphicke into the party was a questionable decision but as she is standing down at this election it was a free hit.

Think they are being quite clever on the sly with the timing.

Rwanda bill passed, flights booked but not due until after the date.

now it’s a case of “if you want them to take off vote for me , otherwise Labour will cancel them “

rather than waiting until none have taken off anyway and it can be used against them, they’ve planted the scenario where it’s all good to go unless you vote Labour.

Will work on some people too

Tories have failed on the economy, transport, environment, law and order, NHS and immigration. If half a billion spent getting a handful of immigrants to Rwanda gets your vote you are a numpty.

To be fair, if the Tories announce a plan to scale up the roll out of heat pumps and Labour don’t, I’m team Rishi

ultimately we’re all in it for ourselves.

Not worried, but I think a massive majority isn’t ideal for anyone.

A Tory party not run by complete fucking lunatics would always be worth consideration at the voting booth.

I'd happily take it.

Whilst it would serve the cunts right, parliament needs balance.

Our local MP is suddenly busier than ever now he’s looking at a trip to the job centre, the smarmy, dimple-chinned cunt

They will still be in opposition. These cunts need the biggest kicking of all time.

Just watching news headlines

Are the Tories really using the Rwanda bill as a reason to vote them in?

The thing they've been struggling to implement for 2 years?

Just watching Question Time Labour need to start answering questions, it is hard to understand what their position is on anything.

The high level is there but seems be totally lacking in any substance.

I like Bridget - doing well, on question time in election time it's three things - what your priorities are, how your opposition have failed and the first challenges to face. Repeat to fade.

Good timing that the six priorities came out last week. People should listen instead of just saying that they want fully costed details on a panel question show. Bit like the fella on the panel ranting about slogans for a quick dose of audience clap.

If folk want real detail the inital five national missions are here (the larger doc can be downloaded from here - do it for the picture of Starmer in a camouflage jacket alone 😁https://labour.org.uk/missions/ very few will read the more detailed policy because they are normal but the manifestos will be out soon for further info.

Assume you have watched it tonight ?

I will be voting for whoever beats the Tories, if  I based it on tonight it would be Liberal ! For the last year or so the audience have been laughing at Tory attempts to excuse the latest fuck up. Tonight alongside that Bridget was getting a similar response when avoiding the question 'what will you do ?' . Mr missus hates the Tories but was more frustrated with the Labour non answers that the Tory making more excuses.

Six weeks of this will make the election closer than people think. On a more positive note for Labour my step daughter who has no interest in politics today declared she is voting Labour as Rishi is a prick.

Personally I thought that born again Christian tory loon Montgomery made more of an arse out of himself - deeply against his rhetoric about universities- that's closing doors and saying its not for the likes of you.

I think she was clear, and of course just shouting 'money!' and then shaking your head wasn't an argument. She was being honest on that uni question and it's a good point she was making. But of course they will be under more scrutiny, as they look like the next government.

It's not perfect, I think the policies are quite bold, they do need to be clearer about it though on media - at least at last we're now focusing on actual polices as a nation and away from the latest government drama.

As for the liberals - always the same, they can say whatever they want, no balancing act to manage - can be pure as the driven snow knowing they never have to act on it.
