Traf Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 not turning this into an ED V KA debate, but ED has probably made millions more than KA ever will, which is as good a benchmark as any ED knew crowds weren't the way forward, that's why he (apparently) told Alladyce to do one when he came to the board with a business plan to generate more revenue to buy the likes of Alan Smith for a CL push, with raising ticket prices being top of the list I think any plan involving Alan Smith should have been fucked off immediately, unless the plan involved the Yorkshire cunt getting badly hurt. Zico Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 http://european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/bolw.htm Pretty sure your 'Historic' average crowd is 17k. 17,009 according to those actual yearly figures not a bad guess Quote
Mounts Kipper Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 (edited) Eddie made his money on one of the most simplistic things going, I’d say he’s pretty savvy I can only comment on how badly Eddie ran BWFC and how KA has performed since he arrived and I know who I would trust to run the club. Zico Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 well aye, one is looking to sell for a decent wedge, the other was playing fantasy football and got bored and never treated it like a proper business, clearly Quote

Its relative to your budget. Gate income meaningless when earning the TV millions in the top flight. In our position it isn't as meaningless. Quote

A quick wiki look says there’s ten teams in this league who get above that. They are the usual suspects of those who do anyway like derby or those who have come down Bar Sheff Utd I doubt many teams coming out of league one would do so, especially ones that spend time in the bottom three Quote

I'm not sure he ran it at all. He loaned Burnden Leisure and was majority shareholder. Certainly didn't take responsibility for decisions made though. Quote
waffer cup 07 Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 I realise it's difficult to attract extra fans when were at the bottom of the league, but I think the club missed a trick in close season, given that both Wigan and Rovers were in League 1. there didn't seem to be any attempt to attract 'floating' fans from towns around Bolton. Surely our marketing department should be doing more to this end. Quote

gonzo Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 If we were in the play off positions we'd have 15k plus on. Look back at burnden and the reebok, 13k is about right for where we are. The only thing that gets people going is winning. One of games with cheap tickets or local derbies on Boxing Day aside of course. I get kens issue but it's never been any different. Quote

gonzo Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 That was some drop 99-2000 That season was as bad as I can remember for gates and apathy. Remember shit loads in white love about it. Quote
Take Hunt Off Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 Our current crowd factoring in league position is probably on the high side historically . Whether Ken is a statto enthusiast I'm not sure as he has thrown a few of his own around recently. However I read it as prelude to a bit of a fire sale , maybe Vela & even our young keeper Turner. At the end of the day he has to juggle the books & based on last year I am not overly concerned in fact bring it on because with our current team we will be relgated a couple of loan players financed by the fire sale might improve the team. radcliffe white Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 Just an average size club some bolton fans think we are massive Quote
Burndens Bogs Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 So over the last 20 years when we've been in the Premiership, we've only once averaged less than 20k - and that was at Burnden. Quote
Rizlar Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 Vela will be off in January KA is just using the crowd situation to his advantage so he doesn't get stick from us fans. Quote
gonzo Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 So over the last 20 years when we've been in the Premiership, we've only once averaged less than 20k - and that was at Burnden. On the flip side we've not even come close to averaging above 20 out of it. They'd have to make it free to get 20k average this season. Quote

They'd have to make it free to get 20k average this season. Think that’s the issue Also, we’ve spent 73 years in the top flight, which is an incredible amount, only beaten by 12 other clubs. So with that, our extra unloyal fanbase, will probably only turn up when we return. Quote
Eavesy Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 What will teams be seeing in vela? He’s spent the entire season chasing down players and hurrying defenders. Hardly revolutionary. The only time he looked of decent quality was when he was linking up with clough but he was playing against League 1 cloggers. Quote

See I don’t get this view point it seems anti ken comment to me. My viewpoint is ken will do exactly what he feels is the right call to protect Bolton’s place in the championship and protect his investment and potential return. Quote
