Wanderers 1-3 Preston

Gazing a little bit further down the line here, but what do you learned folk think the chances are of them re-arranging the home game against Preston on March 3?

Bearing in mind they've already moved Boro v Leeds to the Friday night and Wolves v Reading to Saturday evening so Sky/EFL have had a rummage through that weekend's fixtures already... but could our game still be moved for police advice, how late did they leave it in advance of the away game before moving it?

For me biggest game of season this. Win this and all those bottom teams will shit their pants as they’ll realise we’re staying up. Couldn’t be more proud of players and manager for sticking together a

  • Lee did the same sat at his desk

it’s all good people say fuck em etc   But ultimately it’s us the football fans who get the rough end   I know we need the cash etc but this may backfire on ken one day and possibly pne may bring

That was a poor all round team effort today - well beaten by a very decent side. That little red bastard Pearson ran the show.

We went ahead against the run of play and eventually lost it by Parky not having a specialist full back when he decided to go 4 at the back.

I’m not a big fan of Dervite but he’s been as good, if not better than the other 2 since he came back in but was hung out to dry at right back today. Not his fault at all.

Walker looked totally dis-interested. Granted service is poor but at least work hard.

Pratley our best player. Good to see Kirchhoff too. Looks a footballer and a couple of decent touches but still looks a way short of fitness.

Overall - fair result, not major complaints. Beaten by the better team

We were never going to hold the 1-0 lead. Simply not good enough and PNE were quite good

Their first goal summed it up for me - skinned for pace and a good finish

They were better than us. Move on

Men against boys from start to finish today and not said that for a while.

Never really seemed to have any plan going forward, kept giving the ball away and were over run time after time when defending.

At half time, we should have changed it as to go on winning was a miracle.

Felt sorry for walker, as lumping high balls to him is not his game in the slightest.

Dervite has been decent last few weeks, looked slow and off the pace today. (Should have stepped up for the first goal, then they would have been offside)

Only pratley for me was a positive.

My god, we need to get some away wins, as if we discount villa and wolves at home and possibly forest with it being last game, we thEn only have millwall and brum at home that we must win.

We can't lose at reading on Tuesday, to keep them in it, but if we can win 1 from the next 2 I would be over the moon.

Blimey, we have a rocket scientist on board.

The point was being made in reply to Kent White.

Only pratley for me was a positive.

Conceded 3 but Alnwick stopped it being 6 or 7

Disappointed at how deep we sat pretty much as soon as we scored .. Walker as mentioned above looked like he had no interest at all .

Glad Henry and Little will be back in for Tuesday night.

Booze o'clock now.....

Going 442 and putting Dervite at right back was negligent. Flanagan did well last week by all accounts. Understand he wanted to get Kirchoff involved but could have saved him for Tues. After the subs all of our central midfielders had barely played in weeks. Not happy with the manager today and I'm not a critic of his usually.

Edit just noticed Flanagan wasn't even in the squad. Makes it even worse unless he was injured.

Dervite ain’t a right back. You wanna go to four at the back you need to bring a right back on.

We need Little back.

Beaten by a better team today ... Just the truth

Our lack of pace in defence showed up too

Wheater did OK , Vela looked off the pace , walker looked disinterested - shouldn't play again

Kirchhoff looked tidy and comfortable on the ball

We move on , glad Henry is back next week

Disappointing today but we move on. 2 big games coming up.

the only positive from today is we are still 4 points clear with a game less to play

now for the two teams directly above us

away

I think Walkers getting a bad rap here. Madine was criticised by some for not working hard enough. Alf and Armstrong have both been described as not good enough and offering nothing.

Aguero would look a waste of space in this team. Launching non stop aimless high balls is not going to make any striker look any good

we were shocking,

this result has been coming at home for weeks

why the fuck keep just hoofing it up to no one

clueless and  going down

I’ll go back to what I said earlier in the season, I completely recognise the great job that Parky has done with a limited team and resources.

But going forward as a team, if we stay up, and want to become a solid championship team, we can’t be having these tactics.

Literally every team in the division pass it better than us, and we are bottom of the possession table.

I know possession isn’t everything, as Cardiff aren’t great with it and are 2nd in the league, but with a slow and faulty defence like ours, teams putting us under pressure, has sometimes really done us over, like today.

Beevers Wheater and Dervite are remarkably incapable of having composure, and passing the ball, that will have to change if we want to consolidate as a championship team in the future.

Edited by Lostock Whites

Our full/wing backs were struggling all match & Preston kept getting in behind them, our midfield couldn't hold or pass the ball & we were toothless up front ( just caused a few problems off set pieces )

On the day, Preston deserved to win.

MOM.... still a very limited footballer but a great effort to try & lead by example, Pratley.

Move on.

Preston aren’t a better team

They just have an actual plan of how to win the match beyond defending for their lives.

They look like they have been training together. Our lot look like they’ve never met. How many times did our players having their arms out asking what to do and who to give it to. It was like having 11 jay spearings.

Today defending for our lives wasn’t enough. Our luck ran out. Le fondre didn’t score a screamer and ameobi didn’t beat 5 men and bang one in from 49 yards

He’s had enough time to come up with a plan with madine not being here.

If we are persisting with the aimless boot. Beevers and dervit launching it without being under pressure. Then wilbraham has to start as today was horrific

so what is the solution?

a new manager, or new back line and midfield?

I just don't think walker is that good

They were light years ahead today. I really hope they get to the play off final and lose on pens.

Matt - with a PR post code all his life and not bitter at all.

They are certainly close to a play off team. I hope they just miss out and their team disintegrates. Can we have Pearson though please

I didn't see beevers or Dervite get the ball and not be under pressure

Every time they got the ball there was at least one man right on top of them

Even if they had had a second to think, there was nobody barring the German who wanted the ball

so what is the solution?

a new manager, or new back line and midfield?

Square pegs for square holes. If you've not got a target man don't play as if you do. Lots of time on the training pitch instilling it into the players where they should be passing to.

My daughters 1st birthday today so I was on lock down, had to listen to it on Radio Lancs which made it even fucking worse with the biased commentary

However he seemed to speak highly about PNE playing with a front three that really put pressure on the opposition defence, seems like your observation’s are aligned

My worry is the moving on. Forget today, no problem, but we need some displays away as we probably need 5 wins and we ain't going to win our last 5 at home........

Drinking heavily............and hoping to find an answer

We need 4 wins, max

If 3 are against Barnsley Burton and brum, might be enough

Why on earth was Pratley brought off? He was the best of a bad bunch today.

Wheater was so slow today he was nearly going backwards. Dervite's head dropped.

We need to fuck this wing back system off. Simply not good enough to pull it off. As has been mentioned already, we need to pack the midfield and play 4-5-1.

We were absolutely dreadful today, and we need to improve quickly or we're down playing like that.
