the mrs's nan went into hospital in newcastle a week or so ago with a water infection

they sorted that out, but she was dehydrated

her aunt asked to take her home, but they said no, she has to stay in till she has the all clear

they then decided to transfer her to alnwick

her aunt asked to take her home again and she'll make sure she drinks plenty water etc, again they said no

got the call this morning to confirm what we all knew was coming

managed to have a face time call with her, but probably won't see her again in person

Sorry to hear that. Horrible. Just horrible. We took my father in law to hospital on Saturday as he was struggling to breathe and he’s been in since. Been a very nervous few days but looking like it isn’t covid. Leaving relatives on their own at hospital is heart wrenching.

from her nan's point of view, she's been itching to slide off the plate for years anyway

but from the mrs and her aunt's point of view, they didn't know what to do for the best and whilst they didn't want to send her to hospital in the first place they couldn't keep her at home when she needed treatment, but then once the infection was sorted, they felt she'd be far less vunerable at home - they wanted to shield her, but the choice was taken out of their hands, and it all just feels so inevitable that she'd get it in hospital

It looks like something in the NW has caused the amount of folk with symptoms to stop growing for 2 weeks.

Trouble is, its not reducing the numbers and every other region has growth, butvits a hope for me that it means restrictions in the NW have started to kick in, and if they have  they should work elsewhere. Fingers crossed.

I'm still up for a 3 week hibernation

Everything down, like apocalypse movie.

A beautiful hibernation, probably the best hibernation that anyone's ever seen. All endorsed by your favourite member of the forum, who's popularity ratings are probably the greatest that have ever been seen.

If I sell it like the Don, I reckon I'll get cross-forum support on this.

Sure I’ve just read hospitality accounts for 4% of infections behind schools/universities, work places & care homes

Apparently Spoons is 3% of the 4%

Just shut spoons and let all the other boozers crack on

Hospitality accounts for 4% of the outbreak incidents that the tracing team were able to track a few weeks ago out of about 700 odd, not including transmission in the home

But it is thought that the figures don't present a true reflection because its miles harder to trace people  in a Hospitality setting than a school/university/ work/ care home because the recording of folks data isn't comparable.

Just think, if everyone on the planet self isolated for 3 weeks, complete isolation with no interaction with another human then the Virus would be extinct by November 1st and we could all move on

The Great Hibernation

Telling you, the cost of it cannot surely be greater than the cost of this rumbling on for another year?

What a Christmas it could be.

Im guessing most of the south has higher figures than GM did when it was put in special measures

Could be wrong though

Would somebody please advise?

I'd belive that to be more realistic more than 4% but just guessing. Cant see risk being much different in any indoor setting, with out a mask on for a few hours, you're going to be breathing in aerosol

As we know, it's easier to close down a country than reopen it.

Fair enough think some articles don’t go onto detail

anyway table booked for Friday and told lad to enjoy his football this weekend as it could be his last for a while

I can confirm that Sweden are just cracking on. Not a mask in sight, a bit more hand sanitiser knocking about and the odd sign here and there but that's about it

No, because they're still too half hearted. Get a proper lockdown in place for the North
