embankment Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 24th March today. The day the media are frightened of celebrating. It is our proud to be English day. If my new flag had been delivered on time it would have been fluttering proudly above the new shed. A few years ago Saxon released a live album recorded at The Ritz on this day. Witnessed by my self and Ashburner St Market and Sputnik Stan. We spent the afternoon in the Old Monkey and The Circus. Surrounded by guys who had been to the St Georges day lunch at the Midland Hotel. I for one will be raising a glass of traditional English stout Ale this evening. Quote

Isn't St George's day usually 23rd April? Quote

It isn’t quite yet, but no reason to not have a fine English beer! Quote
stevieb Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 It's 23rd of April. I've booked it off and I'm spending the afternoon in Lucianos beer garden come rain or shine! It's my birthday, not that I'm a massive flag shagger Quote

Thank you for the reminder. Quote
Cheese Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 You can't even say you're English these days. If you do, you'll get arrested and thrown in jail. Quote
Dimron Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 Fk me, that gave me a fright... St George's Day is the wife's birthday and I thought I'd forgot Quote

mickbrown Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 (edited) That English stout must be way stronger than the paddy version. But he's correct. The media said nowt about Christmas on the 25th of February either. Couldn't get my hands on any crackers for love nor money Good news is at least his flag has another month to make its way here from China. Edited March 25, 2021 by mickbrown Quote

Aye, every month since lockdown started they've sent all the employees a case of beer (or bottle of Prosecco/Wine for those who don't drink beer) - I'm getting a bit fucking sick of it now to be honest, as I don't drink much at home, I bet I've got over 200 cans of the stuff in the garage now. Still, I'm sure it'll all get supped when we're allowed people round Quote
