I never watch the Spain ones

Can't think of owt worse

There was an amazing property in Crete in the last week or so

Bout 300k, I think

Each to their own, Crete is lovely but bit to cold in winter, inland Spain is lovely for those who don’t want to be in the commercialised areas and you can get something inland fantastic for 300k.

Post Brexit, buying in Spain etc is a thing of the past isn’t it?

How long can we spend over there in one hit -  3 months? 6 months?

In a couple of years i think i’ll just rent a gaff for 3 months over there over in the winter, get the worst of our shite weather out of the way, then come back around Easter.

No property to sell, & probably choose a different venue the year after.

Win win.

6 months for me if I want to avoid becoming liable for Spanish taxation. The timetable is set, just need the travel situation to normalise (or close to normalise) and we'll be offski.

Have to be in Europe in May anyway (Covid permitting). World Masters WF finals at FIFA HQ in Zurich.

I can never understand why people buy a place abroad and either visit the same place all the time, or don’t, so spunking money up the wall.

I stayed in Lindos a few years ago, and got speaking to a couple who were retired, but pretty much did as you say, and kept their property in the UK, but moved around Europe renting places for 3~6 months at a time. They reckoned committing to such long rental periods, especially if half of it was out of season, really kept the prices down for them, and they found it very cost effective. They used to own a place in Spain, but said after going several times a year for about 10 years, they just got bored of it, and now liked the option of being able to explore different places

I get the long term rental and it’s something I will consider if I sell up, but it’s never your home, we go often and just travel light as we have all our gear there, clothes, golf clubs Bike etc, soon as you get there you relax. Also if you buy right it’s an investment, before we bought we were spending 3k on a 2 week break 3/4 times a year that’s more than I pay for mortgage and other charges for 12 months.

That sounds ok

Do you still get to other places around the world?
