Horrible place with horrible people

Never forgot parking the car in SoT and asking a passer by for change for a parking meter, his first reaction was to pull a knife on me. He apologised after

Mumbai for me. Mountains of shite everywhere.

Phnom Penh I loved.

Agree with Mumbai. Absolutely stank and knocked me sick everytime I left the hotel.

agra as mentioned was also a shithole but has the taj mahal so is forgiven.

Phnom Penh I thought was an excellent city also.

I didn't think Mumbai was that bad to be honest. I got myself a tour guide and found it quite fascinating (the trip included a visit to Dharavi too).

I did once get stuck in limbo at the airport due to a diverted flight which wasn't pleasant but they made up for that by putting me up the Lalit for the night 😁

Last city on an 11 month trip for us and at the time I vowed never to visit India again. In hindsight I will probably go back and was a tad harsh on some of the places. Still not sure Mumbai will win me over though.
I also found Delhi a bit shit.

jaipur was great

highlight of goa was the Bangladeshi brassses at £2.50 a pop (allegedly)

Nairobi

Not having that.

Freetown was great, fantastic beach bar not far from Mammy Yoko Hotel back in the 90's , now the UN HQ I believe. Excellent Casino overlooking town. Getting to and from the airport was a chore mind.

Nairobi was great, two excellent night clubs, hotels were first world standard and the Indian food was great.

Now the biggest shit hole I've been to is Onitsha, just one big garbage dump and must have been the biggest clap centre of the world judging by the number of very graphical signs offering a cure.

Are the like the ones you get in Thailand by any chance?

I've heard about them but haven't come across any yet, I think they tend to be more available in Baga than anywhere else though and I rarely venture further north than Candolim

I believe they are similar yes to the ones in Thailand 😊

They were in candolim! Few years ago admittedly. We had a load of Russians (or that part of the world) in our hotel and they had them in and out at all hours of the day.

Delhi.  It must be the only capital city in the world with people openly pissing and crapping in the street.

I only did a taxi tour of the sights so didn't get to stay in Delhi on my way to agra but it was literally look left... City of London modern sky scrapers, look right some guy pissing in the street and dirty kids begging at your window.

And a massive fucking monorail was under construction through it all.

No corruption whatsoever I'm sure

LA is an interesting shout.  I wouldn't necessarily call it a shit hole but it's got to be the most overrated place on earth.

It’s absolutely massive, apart from the driving side of it I loved it

I found a lot of LA very seedy with a bit of a nasty undercurrent

Too big. It’s like driving in a Scooby Doo cartoon with repeating scenery

In the UK, I’ve visited most cities with work, and there are a good few contenders, but Dundee and Bradford really do belong in their own category. Along with Luton.

Abroad, Miami is not a city to get lost in when you’re trying to find the motorway. Ended up in an area that was massive and absolutely heaving with blokes carrying guns and streets full of dope shooters. Scariest place I’ve ever been.

For pure shithole status, Marseille is probably Europe’s best effort.

It’s in my top 3 places to visit , well it was. Looked fantastic from the programme I saw on it. What’s wrong with it? Or should I not ask?

Just the people more than anything.

Aggressive, aloof and everybody is trying to rip you off. And not in a Thai style, starting the haggling in an artificially high but very smiley type way.

We asked a little kid if about 11 if he could show us how to get to the square - it took him about 30 seconds. My Mrs gave him the equivalent of about £2 as a tip to say thanks and he looked at her like she was an utter piece of shit and told her that wasn't enough and getting the locals to round on us. I said something along the lines of - 'well I'll have it back then you cheeky little shit' and he spat on the floor in front of us an ran away.

Countless, wondrous tales like that to regain you with! 😁

I loved Marrakesh. People were great weren’t mithering like Egypt, it’s busy very busy but not like India.
Saying that though we went at the height of summer and it’s was almost unbearable because it’s nowhere near any coast. It was never out of the 40°s

The hotel helped it was 5* All inc, serve yourself beer so that probably added to the experience. 😁
