A fine point maybe but Ched Evans, in a retrial, was found not to be a rapist. Just sayin'.

  • When he starts picking it up we've got problems

  • In fairness that may be down to what’s in his contract. A lot of companies consider it gross misconduct and can sack you for being convicted of a crime like this. Its discretional. Personally, I

Maybe the owners and mangers staunch Christian beliefs will allow the lad to learn and reform his character.

Dempsey has been punished in the eyes of the law.Draw a line under it and move on.He's not the first player to do this sort of thing Gerrard,Terry,Cantona to name just a few. We've all done something we regretted in the past,ok he went over the top but  we all make mistakes.Hopefully he learn from it and become a better person for it

Heavy fine and last chance saloon and if he fucks up again off he pops

Because a) no-one would've heard of him and b) he'd have already lost it?

Not sure I've seen much of a clamour anyway. Just a couple of posts saying we should do something more than stick him in the team on Saturday and tell him he can twat who he wants.

Ultimately if he was in the B-team on the verge of being released in the summer, we'd use this as an excuse to get shot. As it is, he's good at kicking a ball around so he stays and we move on.

When does his contract expire?

Having watched the CCTV I have to commend the Cumbrian police for their surprisingly prompt response. If anyone reports a crime in progress around here they generally rock up a week or so later.

They were probably responding to the previous incident tbf

What previous incident?

The one where Dempsey gets knocked out?

Tbh, the cops didnt seem that bothered about Dempsey jnr when they arrived

So he gets knocked. Out in an unprovoked attacked goes looking for the guy while probably still concussed finds he is in the club bouncer won’t let him in and grabs him by the throat and he reacts and lays in to the bouncer

.gets found guilty and been punished end off . Let’s move on

should of also got himself a better lawyer

Six minutes earlier?

Still a very quick turnout for a non-emergency in a small town that probably doesn't have an open police station anymore.

There isn' a clamour for him to lose his job.

Looking back, I think only Mick has said get rid.

If he wasn't a footballer, and so important to his team, he may well have a greater chance of being dismissed- depending upon his contract of employment of course.

What better way to demonstrate the culture of the club than to support his rehabilitation? He's been sentenced and now he will need support, part of supporting inclusivity is to support people who have made mistakes to improve themselves. This is assuming he wants to do the work on his anger management issues, if he's saying to the club "I'd do it again, prick deserved everything he got" then that would be different. He's been found guilty but now he repays his debt and we support him through it .

All reasonable.

Saturday afternoon street boxing is probably a common occurrence up there I expect so they might have a bit of a presence up and down the coast and landed lucky. If it’s all happened under the same roof (and presumably been brewing for a while leading up to the initial incident) then I expect the bar staff will have set the alarm long beforehand. But obviously the Dempsey’s making no attempt to get away when I’m sure they’d have heard sirens would definitely suggest they were very much shrouded in the red mist and all that.

What's done is done.  He's been to court and has been punished accordingly.  Our owners are clearly decent folk and, I'm sure, as long as Dempsey shows remorse then they'll do the Christian thing and forgive him.  Had it been an innocent man in the street he'd assaulted and hospitalised I think it'd, correctly, be viewed completely differently.

After it taking a good while for him to show just how good a player he is, it'd be foolish for us to sack him.  I'm sure there are managers of other clubs with their fingers crossed hoping that we do show him the door.

I never said sack him, I said sell him.

Although I ain't that arsed. The club will do what they feel is right.

So an innocent man just doing his job minding the clubs door doesn’t qualify as innocent then? You really can’t argue any serious defence on the part of KB or his father but they’ve been lawfully punished and now have a chance to make amends. Sacking Kyle and ruining his career seems wrong for both sides, far better to help him rehabilitate than cast him out.

You've twisted my words a little there.  I'm in no way defending Dempsey or his actions and physically attacking anyone is wrong.

Given how backward it is up there they will be desperate to get his dad as he has a name up there. Folk love scrapping there. Proper odd cunts. Treat even amateur rugby lads like celebs and then other folk want to pick them off too.

That doorman will be a cunt and probably got what was coming just a shame it was our midfielder who did it

This is Wanderersways mate. Just like scousers, all bouncers are inherently wrong and deserve what they get.

Dempsey & his dad appear to be a set of pricks to say the least. Can’t believe his dad didn’t try to calm the situation down.

He works for a community club and is a role model to younger people. Like it or not, that’s the part of what a footballer is these days and it comes with the salary. All that being said, i think he deserves a chance to rehabilitate and the club should add additional conditions to his sentence to support that. Some crimes such as Greenwood’s don’t deserve a second chance, but this does. Prisons, in their current state, achieve very little for cases like this.

It’s up to Dempsey to ask the fans to stop that chant. Good luck to him.

Didn’t mean to Bob just that you seemed to imply from the way you wrote it that the doorman wasn’t innocent. I know that’s not what you meant and you’re not defending KD in any way, it was just the way it came across 🥴

How so, they were in the wrong and have admitted it. Good on them and hopefully the club will now assist KD in his rehabilitation. As London W said, you’d have hoped his dad would have tried to calm things down not stoke Kyle up. Apparently, the shithead who started the problem by assaulting KD in the first place gets away Scott free but let’s hope that as he’s well known he gets dealt with on the QT?

Without knowing what happened outside beforehand, or what the bouncer's role was ( i doubt that both Dempseys would bale into him like that if he was just doing his job on the door ) it's impossible to make an informed judgement.

The court has passed it's sentence, it seems mostly on the evidence of some exciting CCTV, now it's time to move on, sacking him isn't going to happen !!

Anyone singing songs about this is a moron btw.

That's the club's take on it, about as measured and low key as I expected in all honesty. Some of our 'fans' ought to make some attempt to respect that tone, otherwise they become the embarrassment, not him
