Im fucking amazed at some comments in this thread

Changing the system today is one thing but not telling folk first stinks

Has it been changed tho?

The queue function is part & parcel of the system, and usually would only kick in once the traffic spikes.

I've seen it before.

Same with gig tickets

Just now, Casino said:

And maybe demand spiked early as folk were buying at 940

Seen that mentioned on a few FB and twatter posts but wasn't sure it was people taking piss

Also seen quite a few posts people offering tickets for sale - bit shit if people just bought extra tickets

Hope so, then Derby and Bolton fans can stop sucking eachother off on twitter about attendances.

Am guessing that the loyalty functionality is an add on that costs money

And the club have decided generally they don't need it

It’s already built in, it just takes a bit of thought and effort to put things in place. If there is an additional cost then you’d have to wonder why Barnsley consider it worthwhile and we don’t.

It’s something that needs deciding at the top level, but that’s why Hart is paid the big bucks.

Listen people are only arsed this one time. There’s been no clamour for away tickets at any other away game this or any other season for this competition so let’s not all crack on as though it’s been an ongoing problem. 90% of the time everyone who who wants a ticket gets one regardless of the competition.

introducing a loyalty scheme in principle is a good idea. But is it worthwhile when it would only be used 10% of the time? Further more there’s no way it would drive up attendances in this competition as us getting in to this position happens too rarely

Fleetwood also sold out in seconds this year so this ain't the first time this season .
If demand out strips demand there is always going to be a group of people who miss out, the whole point of a loyalty scheme is to make that process 'fairer' or at least more transparent. Your argument seems to be cost but why introduce the membership scheme if we are not going to use it for something like this too ?

All of a sudden today the queue was introduced...why ? Why were so many people logged on early in queues ? Did some people get told by mates  there was a different process today ?

My issue isn’t cost at all. And yes currently there are instances where demand outweighs supply hence me saying 90% of the time there’s no issues.  It’s just a reflection of the level we’re operating at.

the club have probably looked at it before and that’s why they introduced the away ST scheme. Granted it’s some commitment but the reward for the loyalty is getting first dibs. As a previous purchase history for aways would only come in to play a couple of times a season it would hardly be an embedded process that would run smoothly when it’s activated. Plus, recognising the issues others have mentioned about the online system, in order for another loyalty window to work would require the club to be sending secure links out. Not too savvy on how that would work but guessing the current system doesn’t have that capability / too workload heavy for the ticket office team

Two really good points.

@barrycowdrill I’m interested in carrying on the debate as you genuinely seem like a decent chap on here and I thought you’d have been more sympathetic to loyal fans getting the tickets.

We have a ticket expert above in @Leyther_Matt who knows more than most about these things, who tells us loyalty/history info shouldn’t be too difficult/expensive to apply in situations like this.

So why on earth allow as you describe a “free for all”? It’s this kind of thinking that has got us in trouble in the past - I think you’re old enough to remember the Middlesbrough debacle?

And yes, I take your point about 90% of the time it works. But that 10% is often on massive games where there’s lots of demand and loyal fans are missing out.

It’s crazy that it goes from the away season ticket to the “free for all”. There’s no way people on “normal incomes can cover that x 4 for a family. It’s expensive enough doing what I do each season!

There has to be stages in between that recognise loyalty.

And that’s even before we get on to the no mention of the queuing system, announcing yesterday with no prior warning, 10 o clock starts all the time and additional fees!

Mate, get the issue completely and probably agree that the current process isn’t fit for purpose based on the current numbers we are taking to places. Get the point on the loyalty thing (it’s something I buy in to as part of watching England) the free for all probably should’ve been rephrased as fastest finger first. Either way it’s the same process.

I was without a ticket for a couple of hours today but wasn’t that arsed about it. Probably taking in to account the context of the game. If it was an FA cup semi I no doubt would’ve felt different. But where do you draw the line on minimum requirement? Especially with this cup.. that would be a diff requirement than the league no doubt

i just think it’s a very workload heavy process for the ticket office with short turnaround time between games and overall we’re not in the position where a scheme like that is needed more than it’s not..

I logged on at 9:50 and was surprised by the queue too. Were 1200 in front of me at that time. Credit for the club for trying to improve it but not much credit for not communicating it out prior. Suppose there’s that argument you would have had people sat there from say 7am. Either way you’ve still got unhappy people

I did mention that

Why do we always get less than a days notice

Stick em on sale at 6am or 8pm

Neither needs any effott at all

Introduce priority windows and that one sorts itself out. City have it pretty much nailed on that front. Gives you notice to get something sorted within a certain timeframe, and presumably isn’t at 18-24 hours notice.
