ianofcleveleys Posted July 17, 2025 Posted July 17, 2025 Issue at left back was glaringly obvious v France, Swedes easily exploited it. Defensively suspect all round, against France and tonight. What a comeback though. Chloe Kelly, big game changer again Quote
Gravel rash Posted July 17, 2025 Posted July 17, 2025 We were our own worst enemies. I had the feeling that if we could get a goal back then we would play without fear, forget controlled football, go for it and who knows? Every time we started to get going we ballsed it up with a basic error. Anyway, changes made and we’re back in it. The Swedes are looking a bit tired. 🤞🤞 Quote

But you cannot compare it to the mens/boys/ Sunday league standard. So accepting the difference for me is key. In the name of equality, the funding and their pay has increased. The media popularity forces it upon us. Despite the elephant in the room, thay aren't men, so impossible to compare their game. An equal comparison, my 1990's Sunday league team would batter England. The one change for me that I think would improve the quality without it being made to look like a lesser product would be to reduce the size of the nets. Outfield players are improving at an amazing rate but it’s still all too easy to see a ball just floated into the net over the keeper, which cheapens the whole product because it just gives an easy stick to beat the game with. On average, men are about 10% taller than women, it’s a genetic fact. If they reduced the height and width of the nets by 10% - for no other purpose than reflecting the genetic difference to men - then I’m convinced you’d see a better overall product with little reasoning against it. It must have been considered by the powers that be. Maybe it’s just me that thinks it’s a sensible solution to the keeper issue. Quote

Probably up for the women in the game to decide mate. Wonder what their views are. I assume many wouldn’t want to change it. You’re right though, standards have improved so much but the keepers are often too easily beaten. Quote

Where have we seen that before 🤔 Quote
Casino Posted July 17, 2025 Posted July 17, 2025 Plus the women dont want it Fwiw, i used to be in favour of smaller goals, but no, its their game Leave em be Quote
Winchester White Posted July 17, 2025 Posted July 17, 2025 It's not quality football but me and the lad have enjoyed this game. We have laughed a bit more than we would normally at a football game though 😉 Quote

Gravel rash Posted July 17, 2025 Posted July 17, 2025 Goal size and penalties, definitely penalties. Quote
ianofcleveleys Posted July 17, 2025 Posted July 17, 2025 We could do with winning the semi in normal time. Swedes playing rugby with most of their pens Quote
L/H White Posted July 17, 2025 Posted July 17, 2025 fucking hell, women are bad at penalties, I'm crying laughing, that last nearly hit corner flag Quote
Gravel rash Posted July 17, 2025 Posted July 17, 2025 Needed Carthorse on for the pens, she’d have probably come thudding up and took the net off. Quote
London Wanderer Posted July 17, 2025 Posted July 17, 2025 What was that Sweeden letting their keeper take the 5th 🤡 Quote
Ani Posted July 17, 2025 Posted July 17, 2025 The penalties will be recorded and replayed everytime equal pay is mentioned Quote
