A hard fought win, we didn’t play anything like well. As usual we had plenty of possession but in our own half, and up to Sheehan popping up for the last on we were hanging on for the draw. Iredale played well, was on the ball with a good goal and a good assist.

Not one for the purists tonight.

To be honest, they are not a bad side at all and can see why they've won 4 out of 5 away before last night.

Can't say I'm over the moon with the performance but a big 3 points to back up the Port Vale win.

Dan needs dropping to B team to try and get some confidence. He was miles away from Charles all last night. Still say a fit Bod and Charles is our best pairing

From my limited experience in the field, I think he was simply speaking too loudly in the microphone which was completely unnecessary given you could hear a pin drop. The microphone automatically cuts out if the input goes above a certain level.

We have not been anywhere near our best for Derby, Pboro or Stevenage home games but still 7/9. 
 

However, with 4/5 starters injured it has to be a positive to come through and still be 3rd. 

some perspective is needed. Harder games to come but with Santos, Adebo and CMG back we will be in good shape.

Any idea when these lads are back?

Wasn’t santos out for 3 weeks before Peterborough so should be back after international week? Not sure on others

I was just reading Iles' "player ratings" in the BN (here) and for once I pretty much agree with him on the whole.

For me, the obvious conclusion is that if we had a full squad to pick from, Evatt wouldn't have picked that team for this game.

If Santos had been playing, Pressley wouldn't have been bossing our back 3 and their major threat would have been eliminated. If Victor had been playing, we'd have got a bit more joy out of their defence. If we had CMG and Maghoma to throw on we'd have had a lot more energy in midfield and perhaps kept hold of the ball better when we needed to. If George J wasn't crocked we would have had a bit more experience at the back to deal with the shit they were throwing at us and it would have taken a lot of the pressure off.

But it is what it is and we had to put out the team we did. Sure it could have been tweaked - it was obviously not Dan's night and he should have been hooked earlier (for JDB rather than CJ who also had a mare) but on the whole the selection wasn't a million miles off our best available.

Ultimately it's just one game in a long season - and we won it - so I'm not sure we can draw any significant conclusions about the manager other than his team didn't fold under the severest of tests on this occasion - despite turning the ball over cheaply way too often.

In an ideal world, we would have a deeper squad with more quality - and maybe there'll be changes in January - but for now we're doing pretty well with what we've got.

So, 10 games in we are third and, if we win the game in hand, two points from top spot.

No assessing necessary. Very fucking satisfied with that. Any one of us should have been willing to take this position before the season started. No doubt some of the pre-season harbingers of doom would say that where we are is abject failure.

The prolonged run of wins in the second half of the season will see us right.

I’m old fat and unfit with a bad knee(have I mentioned that before) but I’m confident that I could make a better strike partner for Dion than the other lad who started alongside him.
