It's his job; he may not have been comfortable doing it, but that is unfortunately part of the job.

It's what happens subsequently that's important now.

Good point , noted.

Agreed. This was a middle aged looking bloke - fairly sure the twitter post is bogus.

Like others have said, was just to the right of us, 3 or 4 rows down.

CPR, defibrillator out, a lot of attention, didn’t look good. Absolutely hoping for the best.

Also if the bloke with a flat cap on that sits around row M in IL3 is someone off here, you’re a fucking weapon. Arguing with a clearly emotional steward who’s asking you to clear the stand is not a good look.

I was on opposite side of stadium but could see things were very serious. Sterling effort by the blue jacketed member of staff who kept battling on giving CPR for best part of 20 minutes. I hope those efforts weren't in vain, he certainly did his best

Blue jacket deserves support after that, it's horrid doing cpr.

Was sat opposite and there seemed a bit of confusion at first, understandable in the circumstances, fair play to everyone helping this chap out, even on the way to the ambulance a guy was still trying to give him cpr on the stretcher, it may well have been friend or relative. Hope he makes it.

He had photographer on back of his high viz, worked harder than anyone to get the chaps heart going, think he got stickfrom crazy corner when the fella was wheeled out of stadium.

That's exactly what he'll have been doing. If the guy dies the photos will never see the light of day.  If he survived they might form part of the timerline of his successful treatment.

If nothing else I would expect that they will be used in the debrief/review in to the response.

Thoughts are with all concerned but particularly the staff who have worked on them and those sat nearby.

Nothing else really matters right now.

Chap was about 2 rows back and four seats to the right of me. Went up to try and help as soon as I knew what was happening - and he was already being given chest compressions by a fan, but no rescue breaths. Shouted that I was a nurse and that I could give mouth to mouth but was pushed back by the stewards in the confusion. Then tried to alert the stewards that they needed to get the defrib because nobody seemed to be getting one at first.

Then on the way back stopped to look after a young girl who had collapsed on Ox Hey Lane - and put her in a car to the hospital.

What a weird afternoon.

Hope the guy is OK - but it's a tough ask in those circumstances. Looked like he was at the match on his own too.

Been there mate , its horrible , especially when you know you can help or do it better , on the flip side the attendees dont know medics from adam so its hard to Judge .

What most people dont realise is that we can be prosecuted if we dont attempt to help in a medical emergency.

CPR is brutal , there is a reason why people swap every 5 mins or so but its also horribley traumatic for the family to watch as well .

No don’t take it back, you were wrong to judge someone for doing their job , have never seen photographs from world wars , 9/11 etc it documents history however horrible it is.

Awful for all involved, really hope it’s good news.

Thoughts also with your Dad @gonzo - I’m sure after his trauma last week it’s no doubt brought it all back at a really emotional time as it was.

Cheers pal.

What a surreal afternoon. Still cant get my head around the lack of urgency from the medical staff in the ground.

Even when they could see something was desperately wrong it was walking pace in to a slight jog. It was like watching a horror film unfold in slow motion. Absolute madness.

Seeing the poor bloke shielded by sheets will stick in the mind for a while.

Thoughts with the family.

Yeh totally agree.

We sit 20 yards from where the poor fella collapsed and proper medical attention seemed to take forever to arrive.
