Portsmouth v Derby

Featured Replies

Derby have got the better run of games, but they collapsed last season and fluffed good positions this season so there’s still time yet.

Probably more nervous about tomorrow night than I have been about any of our games since Wigan away.

I do get the logic in that but I won't consider us out of the top 2 race until next time we drop points.  Until that happens, they have to win every game so its not over even if they win at Wycombe.

Whilst I think Pompey are the better team, I think Derby will be more up for it. Regardless of what they say about getting the job done, somewhere at the back of the Pompey players' mind has to be the

If Pompey win I see us getting second as long as we beat Peterborough

Aye, more excited for this than I was for our game today! 🤣

Looking at their fixtures

I only really see the next two fixtures being problematic for Derby

If they lose to Pompey and don't beat Wycombe it's game on

We'd have to win all our games but the next 4 shouldn't pose too many issues for us either

I wouldn’t rule out Cambridge away being a tricky one either, just the same as me not thinking Bristol is an easy one for us (based on form, Bristol is the easier game). Any away game at this point is a tricky one.

I do think that their other 2 home games are a guaranteed 6 points, but again I think our home games with Port Vale and Shrewsbury will be the same.

It probably won’t be this simple but in my mind it’s down to

Us - Bristol away, Pompey home, Posh away

Them - Pompey away, Wycombe away, Cambridge away

We need to better them by 3 points and a bit of goal difference.

Suspect they'll try to shithouse their way to a draw.

Hopefully pompey don't settle for that.

That’s my fear. A draw would actually suit both and that one point could be critical for Derby come the end of the season. If it’s level with ten to go I don’t see either risking anything to win it. I think if you offered it both managers would take it now.

That’s my fear- a 0-0 borefest that will suit both of them

Yep just like that

A draw isn't the end of the auto chase. A derby win probably is

Out game in hand is technically next weekend as derby don't play, so we could potentially be in 2nd by Saturday evening if they lose tonight and we win sat with a GD swing.

4 goals to make up.

We've scored more than Derby, which could work in our favour if it got really tight.

Quite a gap to make up; I can't see a big win for either side tonight, beyond exceptional circumstances, eg sending off.

We also have to do our part, and firstly that means getting a win, which we've struggled to do recently, before worrying about making it a big one.

Whilst I think Pompey are the better team, I think Derby will be more up for it. Regardless of what they say about getting the job done, somewhere at the back of the Pompey players' mind has to be the thought that with so many points on the board and with so many games left they can afford to lose and still go up/win the title. Derby will be all over it though, especially after our win yesterday. It's their playoff final.

Expecting a draw but hoping that Pompey do them and clinch the title with a game to spare so they're on the beach and hungover when they play us.

If derby lose tonight and if we, we wont btw, win all our games, we will beat em on GD.

No doubt in my mind

Seems you have at least a bit of doubt in your mind...

Well yeah, but not about the outcome

Win all ours GD would take care of itself

Its the winning all ours

Only 2 im confident about are Shrewsbury and PV

A brave call that.

Given that on paper you'd say their remaining games as a whole, are easier than ours.

Personally 7 from the home games & 6 away points

Can Portsmouth be up by the time they come to us? got derby & Shrewsbury at home this week

peterborough possibly nowt to play for last game so maybe rest up

Don't both these teams get awarded a lot of penalties. Wonder if it will come down to that tonight.

Think if Pompey win tonight they’ll be 11 points better off than us, if we both win Saturday then they would just need a draw against us

Portsmouth are gone, no way are we making up an 8 point gap to a team who have lost 4 games all season with 5/6 games to go.

Hoping for an emphatic Portsmouth win tonight. PUP

Under those conditions, if Derby don't win at Wycombe, then would that see Portsmouth promoted? Think it would.

Just checked, not quite.
