Well, yeah. Lots of bad defending all round, but the final clearance required was as basic as it gets. To hit it at the attacker is the kind of mistake I've just seen at my lad's under 8 match today

He was stretching trying to get it away from goal, kicking it out for a corner may have been easier, but the angle he was coming from made that more challenging and could have risked an own goal

A word of praise for Williams , his quick thinking & long throw won us the game really plus his well taken goal .Can’t understand why we went back to three up front though , they just get in each others way  plus we are left light in midfield.

Thommason rumour is a hamstring so Mattete needs to start Tues with Sheehan & Dempsey , Vic & Charles up top .If Toal is still out surely we need to employ a back four ? Isn’t going to happen though is it.

ps. Santos back on it given the defensive line-up.

I hope this means we still aim to play 3 in midfield and Saturday was a one off

It was 3 in midfield yesterday. The problem was one of those midfielders was a striker, who, surprise surprise, wants to get forward.

It wasn't a reversion to the 523 though. So hoping Evatt has seen this and plays 3 actual midfielders on Tuesday. We'll get ripped apart if not

In any case it was shite and didn't really work

So I hope we don't do it again

Return to 4-4-2 ffs.

I remember Scott Sellars doing it for Rovers against Newcastle.

My Take on the poor start isnt particularly the results . A draw instead of one of those defeats and we are above Barnsley with a game in hand on 2 of the teams above .

The performances have been pretty dreadful . We have played well in parts of games , 15 mins here 15 mins there but little else . Our best performances have been Shrewsbury away in the cup which doesnt count and Northampton which was marred by switching off for the last 10 mins.

But just as the Shrewsbury performance doesnt count neither does the Villa game and so for a team to be on our points total whilst playing mediocre at best is not bad at all .

Winning whilst playing badly used to be the mark of a good team . If Matete , who hasnt slotted in liked we hoped emulates Bang Average like last year , and McAtee finds his role I think we are in for a good season and with a lot of important injuries to come back it could be even better.  Indivisual performances have been fairly decent but we are less than the sum of our parts at the moment.

I still think Evatt is the right man for the job but evan I find his substitues frustrating . The Charles one I get as he had played midweek , but Arfield instead of Matete was baffling when we needed to sure up the midfield Arfield was furthest man forward many times without the ball.

MOM was Sweeney and for us was Collins great goal well taken and worked his nuts off and was blowing out his arse at the end . I think that its Collins style that makes him look like a lazy player, reminds me of Chris Waddle in his demeanour

Not sure Collins was MOTM.

There again I only realised today Baxter was not playing.

Dempsey by a country mile for me. Really stepped up this season.

Both correct.

The bright side is that we still sit in a handy position despite so many of our players not hitting top form yet.

There are or have been question marks about
Cogley
Santos
Williams
Matete
Arfield
Collins
McAtee
Charles
and probably others, so it could have been far worse.

Can think of at least 3 more been described as shit

I wonder if theres only Johnston escaped

.
