Duck Egg Posted March 2, 2025 Posted March 2, 2025 Not surprisingly I'd not heard of most of the acts at the Brits last night but what about those bands you have heard of, yet as far as you're aware, you've never heard any of their stuff? Wu Tang Clan Captain Beefheart Bauhaus Arcade Fire Are a few of mine. Am I missing out? Who are yours? Quote
Casino Posted March 2, 2025 Posted March 2, 2025 Bauhaus covered ziggy stardust and recorded the classic bela lugosis dead Arcade Fires albums are well worth a listen Think they headined glastonbury - very good Other 2, not a clue Quote
Dr Faustus Posted March 2, 2025 Posted March 2, 2025 Hmm wouldn’t say never heard, but plastic scousers half man half biscuit I wouldn’t recognise if they were playing live in the lift. Soz mods. Anyone with a two word name whose debut came 2010 onwards- that sounds like a Pointless category Quote
Whitestar Posted March 3, 2025 Posted March 3, 2025 Most artists after about 1995. Thought Billy Irish was a bloke. Used to go to a place where the lady on the reception was always very chatty. She was probably mid to late 50s and it would be small talk but often about TV or music, she was the type that would like Barry Manilow or the Beegees and i know she had seen (can't think of his name but think he died in the last couple of years & did Shirley bassey impersonation) loads of times. Anyway you could have knocked me down with a feather on time when she could name every track on the first 2 Stiff Little Fingers albums. Quote
gonzo Posted March 3, 2025 Posted March 3, 2025 Kendrik Lamar and Doja Cat. Wouldn't know them if they were sat in my van with me right now. Quote

Whitestar Posted March 3, 2025 Posted March 3, 2025 Wouldn't recommend it to young lone females but if you do find yourself in vehicles with strangers you find they are normally very interesting people, weird usually but interesting non the less. Once picked a bloke up near scotch corner years before Ruud Gulliet ever retired playing and he told me that he would one day manage Newcastle utd, i was like whatever. Quote

Sweep Posted March 3, 2025 Posted March 3, 2025 Echo & The Bunnymen Stiff Little Fingers The Cribs three I've heard of, but I haven't knowingly heard any of their songs Quote

I haven't listened to loads of em and not been to see them live yet but their song Restless Legs is probably one of my favourites. Edited March 3, 2025 by tshape Quote
Zico Posted March 3, 2025 Posted March 3, 2025 Anyway I was relatively in touch with most stuff when I worked in an office in town I controlled the office Spotify and speakers and the young uns would be asking for all sorts of stuff I'd never heard of But since working for myself for about 8 years I've not got a clue as I only listen to what I know There are very few artists here I've even heard of But from this in answer to the original question Kendrick Lamar Charli xcx I know I'll have heard a Drake song at some point but couldn't name or identify one Quote
Not in Crawley Posted March 3, 2025 Posted March 3, 2025 How the hell have people missed Charli XCX - we've just had the Brat summer. She's also written loads of song for other people. Super talented. Quote

Duck Egg Posted March 3, 2025 Author Posted March 3, 2025 I remember cruel summer by Bananarama but brat summer passed me by. Quote
Zico Posted March 3, 2025 Posted March 3, 2025 As an aside I've decided to listen to all of Princes studio albums and rank them 40 in total I've listened to everything up until 1995 many many times But he did another 23 since he did all that name changing phase that I don't think I've ever listened to Quote
