Certainly a lot better than the last match. Forino MOM , Inwood and GT very good both 7.5 , Southwold a 7 , everyone else a 6 at best . Quote
W.cramp Posted April 26, 2025 Posted April 26, 2025 From the bits I saw, mcatee- get rid asap. Collins - really is not good enough to lead a promotion challenging team , bad bad misses again. Quote

A more physical presence alongside, faster players and width- as SS wants, and who knows. Quote
Leyther_Matt Posted April 26, 2025 Posted April 26, 2025 (edited) Typical end of season. Collins hitting row Z and McAtee hitting the post probably sums it all up. Great day with the elite though @Marc505 @Steejay @Thorpey & company Edited April 26, 2025 by Leyther_Matt Quote

A more physical presence alongside, faster players and width- as SS wants, and who knows. It'll be something for SS to weigh up, with Collins and McAtee. If he gets the sort of strong, focal point striker he's looking for, where do the other two fit in? If it's a 4-2-3-1, in theory both of them could play, on either side of the three and both be suited by it. The challenge with it would be how hard they're prepared to work without the ball, so we aren't easily got at in wide areas, even more so if the central player in that three is someone like Randall. Given what SS also said though about wanting to play with wide players (I get the impression he means genuine wingers who are athletic and run at defenders), I'm not sure where either of them would get in. Maybe McAtee as the middle one of the three behind the main striker, he does play better when he has other players close to him and around him. Going to be interesting seeing how it all pans out Quote

Him and Toal got potential to score a few from corners which would be a nice bonus. Very much so. His interview this week when he apologised to the fans for not matching their passion was good to read. Add Forrester to that & centre half is in decent shape to maybe add just one more. I wonder if Johnson stays. Quote

I wouldn’t want to be going into next season with forrester and him as our CB’s. Not good enough for me Edited April 26, 2025 by superkev Quote

So not comparing like with like, we don't know what IE would have done in the same circumstances. Hopefully its at least 2 years before we have another dead rubber (in the championship preferably). Not trying to be flippant, but we can't get rid of all of Toal, Johnston, Forino and Forrester. The captain does have to play a decent number of games, but doesn't have to be an ever present, that's what the vice captain is for (Tomo if he's still a first choice?). Quote

If he proves to be a sicknote for us, fair enough, he can't be captain. Very much at fault at Barnsley. Just like every other CB and defender at different times this season, if only we had that perfect defender like Bergsson or Brian Borrows. Forino can score a goal, unlike most of our current and recent CBs; decent header at Lincoln too (great save) - very rare for any keeper to make a great save from a header from any of our players. Who's your suggestion for captain? Quote

Ani Posted April 26, 2025 Author Posted April 26, 2025 https://www.skysports.com/football/peterborough-united-vs-bolton-wanderers/509326 Highlights, first pen the lad just goes through a non existent gap and falls over, even if ref gives a pen no idea why someone is booked. Second one might be but still looks like he is looking for. McAtees miss strangely does not make the cut ! Felt very end of season today but thought we were the better team. Matete had a looking like a footballer day. Quote

That has to be a small field to choose from. I'm sure someone could come up with a very short list of captains to have played for SS at Plymouth (I'm ruling Stoke out as a captain there is unlikely to be dropping down to L1 unless he's well into his 30s now, and we don't sign old players do we?). I think most captains tend to be CBs or centre mid, it narrows the field even more. Not sure if that is a player we could attract, but happy to be proved wrong. Quote

He doesn't have to have been a captain before just someone with a bit more nouse, leadership qualities and stature than we already have. Quote
