Very strange to have just centre backs, guessing the vice captains allow for rotation, but I'm guessing that leaves Taylor, Johnston, Forino, Forrester and Inwood contending for that other centre back place.

Respect your opinion as always mate.

But IMO, it’s the best choice. A player who SS thinks will play every week and be his leader out on the pitch.

Even better that it’s someone who has played with passion and positive influence on many occasion.

I get your point about a break away from Evatt’s under-performers. But I think that was more him than every individual player who played under him.

SS knows he needed change, 10 new signings is significant in that respect, lots of whom will start today.

11 changes and a new captain would have been OTT.

SS did say there would be a leadership group, but I am also surprised the official ones are all back line. I suppose that these days, most of the requirement is motivating the entire squad off the pitch in training and the dressing room. On the pitch they’ll have the captains behind them and SS himself on the halfway line driving them on.
