Agree, Sheehan is great player but not suited to what we are trying to do. No point of keeping the ball if all options are  cut off because it takes so long to do anything.

It just felt so typically Bolton Wanderers to have a bad result today, I felt it was coming but didn't want to believe it.

We've had 10 matches now and have a pretty good understanding of the team.

I don't want to get to emotional, but we have a serious issue, particularly away from home where you have simply go to put away your chances.

Our defence is relatively okay most of the game, but concentration levels drop for a second and then we are a goal down.

I don't understand why a team like Northampton are putting chances away and our front 4 isn't?! 

Just so frustrating. As with particularly the away games we look so vulnerable and constantly shoot ourselves in the foot. Look like a naive team, and perhaps with the average age being just 23 goes to show it.

Okay we had a tough statt. But we still have not won away from home and still not put 2 wins together yet.

Yeah it's early, but losing 3 points in September means just as much as losing 3 points in April.

Not good enough.

Burstow scores when he’s got weeks with his chance then we win the game. We were shite, but we were still the better team and should have won.

It's a shame we let Southwood go as well as Baxter. Up until now TSL looks an inferior replacement for both tbh

Don’t know the stats but was probably the first game this season we didn’t dominate possession and we got well beat we’re having to dominate games to get a draw then the odd win .
we’re  unable to keep a clean sheet every shot above a bread and butter save goes in .
Thought it had started to come together after last week but that looks more of a blip and normal service resumed .

I think that was Fitzsimmons first EFL game for about 7 years.  Was in National League North with Scunthorpe last 2 years.  Nolan was his manager at Notts County about 6 years ago so presumably one of those its who you know signings.

They had about 10 first team Players unavailable and probably have 25% of our budget, we should be winning that game but even though we were the better team we were average at best all game…. We need a proper striker, Burstow nor Dalby are the answer, keepers bang average, managers bang average, we ain’t going up with this manager & squad.

Burstow’s got 5 goals this season. How much better do you want than him, Haaland, Isak?

We’ve got wingers taking piss, we’ve got the “best centre mids in the league”. We’ve got a left back that’s going to play in the prem within 2 seasons.

None of them are consistent. If they were then they wouldn’t be playing in L1. We had an off day today, we looked poor in the first half but still should have won.

I agree with you about the keeper - the doubts are getting bigger.

But come on, any chance of less of the knee jerk? We could and should have done Wigan by 7 last week. We were mustard, best team in the league, everyone’s on top of the world. Now we have an off day and SS isn’t the man for us - it’s fucking embarrassing.

Not wanting rid;As we know with Sharon, she is loyal to a fault. And getting rid of a manager is often a lengthy and painful process.But, I was so fed up with IE, and thought SS would bring a big difference, but doubts on his credibility have started to creep in. Hope I'm wrong?

Every keeper we have been up against this season as looked competent for league one so plenty about .
Farino had a go at him at one stage can only see him getting worse with being a young keeper with the pressure mounting I would drop him

It would be nice to find out what we're about when 1 up away!

Its hard to envisage us defending a lead for 85 minutes the way for eg Lincoln did, I feel like we would have still needed a 2nd, 1-0 away with an early goal would be very un-Bolton like.

It’s not a knee jerk Im basing my opinion on all 10 games, Wigan was good and I was impressed, however the other 9 games I don’t think we’ve been great.

I think we would have won if we’d taken either of our early chances. We’d played well up to that point, passing and movement was good and although the Burstow chance was a gift, we looked in control and dangerous at times.

After Burstows miss it was like a slow motion car crash as we lost all fluency.

It was obvious we needed to reset and get back to how we started - and I thought the players would after a couple of scares. When that didn’t happen, I thought SS would sort it out at HT but that lasted about 2 minutes.

Sheehan would have been an asset if we were sitting in a lead but chasing the game he holds us back. For me Sheehan should only come on as a sub when we’re winning - slowing it down and keeping the ball is what he does.

I think Schumacher either misjudged Northampton or underestimated their freebie players resilience and I think our players believed their own hype/price tags, attempting some ridiculous moves, passes and tackles when quick accurate pass and go would have got the job done. Hate it when they try to be prima donnas.

There will be inquests and I hope lessons are learned, because the makings of a decent team are in there somewhere.

Plenty of evidence SS is the right man (promotion from L1 on the CV, football has been generally very good so far, and he's made us much harder to beat in the main). Today was a bad day but let's not go overboard. Plenty of time to get it right.

I must admit if I was offered Baxter in goal (and I've not forgotten his nightmare at Lincoln) for the next couple of league games I'd snatch your hands off as there seems to be a confidence issue with TSL and consequently the defence around him.  Baxter played in Watford's 2-1 win today and kept a clean sheet last week.
