Sydney has had final effluent recycling to front end of a drinking water treatment plant for years. Thames Water are actively considering it as they mothballed their desalination plant due to the high running costs. SWW had plans for a desalination plant near St Ozzie to feed into network to cover the summer demand from emmits but the local tree huggers found a love of sea grass in the area where the brine would have been returned to the sea, despite the bay at Par having white sand from being so contaminated with China Clay. Just stay out the fucking sea for christs sake. Tragic story the 3rd one. Poor lass dived in to save her dog and she drowned. The dog survived and the husband critical. I know the exact point where it happened and can guarantee they were cup off on the sandbank. I've been cut off there myself, it comes in so quickly behind you. Quote
