Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 17, 2024 Site Supporter Posted January 17, 2024 Bloody lethal pavements today! Had a walk back from Ainsworth way earlier; having to walk like a bastard penguin for most of it. Absolutely brassic tonight too! Lovely day though. Quote

Site Supporter Spider Posted January 17, 2024 Site Supporter Posted January 17, 2024 (edited) Our local MP has waited until after the event as usual to “raise concerns”. This time about bins full of grit. He’s fucking useless. Donning some ppe and standing next to a truck just makes him look a bigger cock than normal. Fortunately, he’ll be out of a job in due course. Not that anyone will notice, Edited January 17, 2024 by Spider Quote
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 17, 2024 Site Supporter Posted January 17, 2024 There is a good reason why bins were removed and/or aren't replenished very often. Nowt wrong with an mp trying to help his constituents, though it is those very people-at least some of them- that created the problems in the first place. Quote

Vandalism and folk dumping rubbish in them. As for the grit itself; if placed into the bins too early, it will absorb water and loose some of its "salt" and effectiveness. Also becomes hard like rock. What was also noticed, was that people would take it for their own driveways and not use it for the purpose of folk helping to clear their street so cars could travel. I also watched a neighbour recently scrape snow off his drive, and shove it onto the pavement! Folk don't seem to come together and do stuff for their mutual benefit. Quote
