December 28, 201213 yr The lad is totally down to earth and a model pro. You won't catch him ballooning on twitter or sniffing for fanny in Panacea. When he first went to WBA Hodgson bollocked him for over-training. Coming in early and staying behind after too. Pearce rates him at the U21s but since Clarke has come in at WBA he hasn't really had a sniff due to the form of others. If its a change in attitude Dougie wants then he is the ideal man. He just wants to play, first team and isn't arsed by the pay cheque at the end of it. The problem from our point of view is that he is totally unproven at this level. He excelled at Boro and with Dale in League 1 and 2, then jumped to the Prem and struggled for appearances unfortunately.

Norwich and Swansea have achieved relative success based on this approach recently. This squad really lacks desire or need to prove themself in my opinion, especially in defence, which is why I am not mad keen on paying fees for the likes of Warnock or Dunne.
