stevieb Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Sainsburys fair trade malbec is 14.5% and is lovely at only 7.50 a bottle. Quote
Guest Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Malbec rarely lets one down and tends to be great value, no matter the spend Quote

Cheese Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 I'm off to Spar to get a bottle of red in a minute. Any recommendations? Quote

Youri McAnespie Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 (edited) Don't go to Spar would be mine. Not much choice (of shops) on a Sunday evening to be fair. Edited January 26, 2014 by Youri McAnespie Quote

no balls Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Not much choice (of shops) on a Sunday evening to be fair. Coop's not too bad for wine. Or failing that, a wine merchants. Quote
Guest Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Coop's not too bad for wine. Or failing that, a wine merchants. You're lucky in Horwich, having Wright's on your doorstep Quote
no balls Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 You're lucky in Horwich, having Wright's on your doorstep And Golden Harvest next door. In fact, I'm thinking of doing both tonight now you've mentioned it Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 We used to have a Wine Shop, it still is, in name only though... They used to sell those Californian jars come to think about it, so probably no great shakes even then... Co-Op is a good shout, although one of the best reds I've ever had, came from the unlikely source of the One-Stop shop near the hospital so the Spar isn't necessarily a right-off. Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 In the spirit of things, I decided to partake, then remembered I've no booze in stock here... Until I remembered my trusty hip-flask of undrank White Rum (hello sailor!) from t'other day - I've got a bottle of Cherry Coke in the fridge too for mixer, I don't know why (I've got some Cherry Coke here) but I'll report back on this new, and probably vile, concoction shortly. Winchester White Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Not sure of Spar but Coop will always have a half decent rioja, pinot noir or even cdp if you want to push the boat out. Quote
Smiley Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Dreamtime Ridge - or whatever… cheap Aussie red. Awful. Quote
Smiley Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Campo Viejo Rioja. Can't remember where it came from but it's slipping down my throat with ease. Sunday night wine drinking is the future!!! Quote
