Youri McAnespie Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Sat finishing up some work on a Friday afternoon and listening to some tunes, getting that feeling in the pit of my stomach that I've not had for ages... I'm toying with the idea of going out again some time, problem is, last time I went out (WHP a few years back) I felt like a proper owd codger - this wasn't helped by the fact nowt was on offer apart from Kopparberg, Bud and shots and the younger punters seemed blisfully happy with this limited selection of intoxicants - perhaps the muntered ones happened to be all down the front? I dunno, but it all added up for a shite experience. Does anyone (well into) their thirties (and beyond?) still go out? There'd be nowt worse than going somewhere I used to go and getting refused entry on account of being an owd c*nt, but I'm not a fan of these mature clubber type nights either - and they usually tend to be one-offs anyway. What does everyone else think (who it applies to, not 'house music is shit anyway' type replies)? How old is too old to pull funny faces and bang your imaginary hammer? Quote
no balls Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Get out, never too old, Is the correct answer. Quote

gonzo Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Go clubbing once a year now. WHP 2012 WHP 2013 This year toying with Rong@venus as the WHP Trance line up is weak as piss. Always a mixed bag any proper club nights, the clientele at WHP last year was definitely over 30. As for piss up nights out,bar the wways piss up I've not been in Blackpool town centre on a night out since 2010. That definitely is a young mans game. Poulton is where it's at round here for over 30's. loads of clout,no scutters, little aggro and plenty of bingston. Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted August 1, 2014 Author Posted August 1, 2014 Some good advice, but I've actually thought about it, and although I like to think I'm the 'I do what I like' kind of person regarding the 'bird', I actually am not... I did go and get my hair cut just in case though, and with my short-ish hair and long-ish facial growth I look a bit like a hipster young 'un, could possibly pass for twenty nine or thirty with a tough paper round... Hmmm... Quote
gonzo Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Your a long time dead Youri. Life is too short for fucking about. One day you won't have the option. Quote

stevieb Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Deffo couldn't do a club these days. Was feeling old in the old sankeys at 21. Went once when it got done up and fucked it off after that. Went whp at boddys and a few times at store Street but it got over run with Bi E types so I binned it off altogether for living the hermit life under the thumb! Channel E! #irony Quote
kent_white Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 We're at Rong later this year. Went to Beatherder and Cocoon but much prefer a festival to a club nowadays. WHP is always too packed and I like my space now I'm in my mid 30's. We should have a WW mingfest :-) Quote

Juan.Kerr Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Me too. It's just that I go out earlier and come home earlier. Hour-wise I'm still putting the hours in. Quote

We went watching Gareth Emery at the Albert Halls earlier in the year but the sound was really quiet. I'm pretty sure they must have some sort of limit. Spoiled the night for us really. There's no way you should be able to hold a protracted conversation on a dancefloor! Quote
jules_darby Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Can't remember the last time I went to a proper club Possibly in ibiza 3-4 years ago Ended up in 42s a few weeks ago after the James gig on my Sister's request and that as bad enough I'm just not interested these days Missus Jules went to WHP a couple of years ago and was home for 1am-2am knackered ha ha Quote

Your ears should be ringing for days. There was nearly at riot in goodgreef tent at Creamfields once because of a noise agreement with the local council. I actually went and spoke to one half if tidy to sort it out haha Quote
Breightmet Boy Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I'm in the 'After Work Tea Time' social club, can't be doing with late nights nowadays. Quote

Won't last 6 months even if it does open. Quote
