SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 (edited) Messi is the best player in the world How's his World Cup Finals scoring record? That would tell his how good a forward he is on the biggest stage. I'll tell you. He's scored the same number of goals as Peter Crouch, but in more games (Messi's 1 in 8 vs. Crouch's 1 in 6). Note that I am NOT saying Crouch is a better player, but it certainly backs up the opinions that Messi's a bit of a bottler. Edited February 19, 2014 by SnoopJohnnyJohn Quote
Didledee Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 (edited) So he's not then? you're saying he has to score in WC finals to be the best? so who is then? and do people only get judged every 4 years? if you don't think he is, you've got millions of others to try and convince, which you'll fail to do. Last Wc, watch highlights of Argentina v Nigeria, Messi COULD have scored 5+ in that one game, the goalkeeper was in great form, he set up goals in that comp and if he did score those 5 goals would that have made him a non bottler, is missing a chance a sign of bottling? Alf Hartigan Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 didle is right, don't judge players on world cup records. forlan is currently the best player in the world if so. Quote
Pie Eater Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 didle is right, don't judge players on world cup records. forlan is currently the best player in the world if so. and Klose is the best ever Quote
Alf Hartigan Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 and Klose is the best ever aye, it's a bit of a lottery the world cup. players should be judged over league campaigns. the thing is with Messi, his best years are probably still ahead, folk should appreciate him and the fact you are seeing something special. SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 is missing a chance a sign of bottling? Yes. Yes it is. Quote
Pie Eater Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Yes. Yes it is. You knew before he even hit it that he'd bottled it. Not a fan of the non-run up/shimmy penalties. Just run up and twat it! Quote
Didledee Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Yes. Yes it is. Didn't last night and he'll not come against much better than Joe Hart or a defense containing Kompany, the Champions League is full of the worlds best, or does it not count? Does the WC make players who say are a 3 star rating into a 4/4.5? His records speak for themselves and he's been scoring freely now for Argentina also, the WC is not the deciding factor and not a go to response that makes you correct, some North Korean scored v Brazil at the WC, big deal. Elson Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Please give it a rest no one cares about your Messi wankifone, he isn't the best player in the world, Ronaldo is as voted by managers and Captains and they know more you. Just look at your signature, The Korean Okocka, really shows how little you know, your on a Bolton Fans Forum and you don't go to any games as we are not in the Premier league so what you says mean Fuck All. SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Does the WC make players who say are a 3 star rating into a 4/4.5? Anything you say from now on has NO standing whatsoever. Thanks. Quote
jules_darby Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 I actually think Didles is speaking sense on this one... Quote
SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 I actually think Didles is speaking sense on this one... Possibly, but backing it up with "star ratings" removes all credibility (IMO obv). I might just be arguing for arguing's sake at this point. Whatever passes the hours until our next defeat, right? jules_darby Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Aye, It doesn't help But Medsi is fucking brilliant either way Wait til Saturday and you and I can resume normal debate Quote
stevieb Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Messi is a great player. Doesn't change the fact that passing opposition to boredom is dull as fuck. Give me real's counter attacking football any day of the week. I've watched barca win 6-0 on TV passing it into the net and barely raised my heart beat. Watch a 6 nil prem game and it's a different story. Also diddles, that Nigeria game, we had this discussion at the time. What you are saying is if Nigeria had no keeper Messi would have scored 5. Bonkers lad! Quote

Zico Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 How's his World Cup Finals scoring record? That would tell his how good a forward he is on the biggest stage. Doesn't say much for George Weah Quote
