DomRepWanderer Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Am I missing something? Players who can find a man? With almost every pass? And move into space? Nah, fuck that, let's make a virtue of not actually wanting the ball... and then, on the rare occasion we do, just lump it long to no fucker in particular. Cos that works every time in Freedman world. That other foreign shite will never catch on. Ah you managed to get a Freedman dig into a thread that does'nt concern us, give it up, for fuck sake, if it was Dougies fault City lost tonight, then booooooooooooooo, hang the cunt, Dougie is team selector for City in Europe, because Pellegrini has'nt a clue about that shit, yeah let's fuck Dougie off because City got beat. Quote
davidjack Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Why should I give it up? You stick to giving your opinions cock, and I'll stick to giving mine, in whichever thread I choose. Quote
passmosster Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 After 15 minutes of watching that, I turned over to the curling. Quote
Mounts Kipper Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 (edited) City set up there formation just to counter Messi to suggest he's a flat track bully is ridiculous. Oh and I'm not sure if tip tap football is better to watch than a good old fashioned blood and thunder championship match after watching that game last night, technical yes wholehearted and full blooded no. Carlos Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I lost interest in the game as Barca were passing the ball round under no pressure. Saw the penalty, first time I saw it, from a better angle than the ref has, I thought it was a pen and a red. Can't believe the Massives are moaning. Quote
DazBob Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Has the Diddler given us his take on last night's game? Shirley even he was bored to tears. Let's be honest, Barca were fantastic they way they dominated the game .... but, by fuckery, they're dull to watch. I'd rather watch Stoke play than watch a team pass the ball over and over and over and over again ... yet go nowhere. Quote
tarian1979 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 whos misreable, just saying kick chase footballs is shite Quote

COYW Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Saw the penalty, first time I saw it, from a better angle than the ref has, I thought it was a pen and a red. Can't believe the Massives are moaning. According to Pellegrini, the ref was biased. He was right. It should actually have been 0-3 and not 0-2 to Barcelona as he got the offside decision wrong. Let's hope he's not as biased towards City in the second leg. Quote
COYW Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 City set up there formation just to counter Messi to suggest he's a flat track bully is ridiculous. That's the bit that some folk overlook. He's also one of the top scorers in the Champions League but apparently he would fail where the likes of James Beattie have succeeded. Quote
DazBob Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 There's no doubt Messi is a great player, but IMO he also needs to be surrounded by great players. Much as it pains me, that slimey Portuguese winker is a better, more effective player as he can win you a match on his own. Maradonna though, IMO, is the greatest. He'd do all that Ronaldo does but he was doing it in an era where defenders were allowed to kick lumps out of you. Like so many of his type though, he was a flawed genius and tarnished his reputation in the latter stages of his career. Oh, and he was a cheating little cunt too. Quote
gonzo Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Messi is the Jo Calzaghe of the football world. Always gone for the comfortable, and managed to convince everyone he was the world greatest in beating also rans Quote
Sweep Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Messi is the Jo Calzaghe of the football world. Always gone for the comfortable, and managed to convince everyone he was the world greatest in beating also rans Let's be fair, he is a great, great player and he's probably been the best player in the world over the last 4 or 5 years. He would walk into any team on the planet. He'll never be considered the greatest of all time though as he's always been surrounded by other absolutely class players. What Maradona did with Napoli was incredible, plus he's also won a World Cup, and that is why he will always be classed as the greatest (or second best, if Pele is more your thing) - as DazBob points out, Maradona played in an era when it was reasonably acceptable to slide through the back of a player and kick lumps out of him. I'm still gutted that we didn't sign Messi when we had the chance in 2000, we had the chance to pick him up from Newells Old Boys for £3000, but Gartslime wouldn't release the funds Quote

COYW Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 (edited) All top players require decent players around them to supply the ammunition. Anyone remember Allan Simonsen? Former European Footballer of the Year at Barcelona who pitched up at Second Division Charlton Athletic when Barcleona signed Maradona. He didn't look quite so good playing alongside Derek Hales although he did still manage more than one goal every two games. Edited February 19, 2014 by COYW Quote

COYW Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 (edited) i think he made his debut at our place we might even have battered them 11 December 1982. Bolton 4 v Charlton 1. The season we were relegated after losing 4-1 at Charlton on the final day. He left Charlton after 3 months, probably after realising what he'd got himself into. The season after he scored the penalty when Denmark beat us 1-0 to prevent us qualifying for the European Championships: Edited February 19, 2014 by COYW Quote

Zico Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Messi is the Jo Calzaghe of the football world. Always gone for the comfortable, and managed to convince everyone he was the world greatest in beating also rans if that were really true, he probably wouldn't have 3 CL titles to his name or 6 league titles in a league that spawned one of the greatest international teams of all time he's hardly pulling the wool over anyone eyes, and he's fucking great to watch not every game, but generally and it's not even like Barca are a one man team, he missed 12 games this season and they won 11 of them they're just not as good as they were a few years back now they are just very good at what they do, as opposed to immense boring, aye, after a while Quote

Mounts Kipper Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 (edited) me too mum/dad finally took the hint as to why i'd not spoken all week and booked me on at about 7 o clock on the friday Pretty sure I was on it as well. Also on the coach to Charlton for a night match a few years later when one of the young lads got arrested and we had to wait for him at Greenwich Police station that was a late return into Bolton.
