Site Supporter superjohnmcginlay Posted July 18, 2015 Site Supporter Share Posted July 18, 2015 We have chickens and ducks in our garden and fresh eggs in the morning are delicious. I like them scrambled with smoked salmon from Aldi on wholemeal bread. Chickens In the yard? do you feed them on Indian corn and is one bugger for giving the other a piggyback over the wall? white -50
Had the last two Eggs in the box this morning, with two slices of brown toast, loverly. Also when I get taken out for the day on a Picnic, love the Egg Mayonnaise butties.

frankietheman
Are they deep yellow and do they hold together rather than spread out when cracked in the pan? If they are pale yellow and spread out they are not free range or fresh.. Your'e right about the colour, but the eggs off older hens spread far more than pullet eggs irrespective of being free range or not.
frankietheman
Give them plenty of sweet corn if you want good yellow yolks, beefs up the flavour too.

Members bolty58
Know a bloke here who despises eggs. A good lad as he is an Aussie White (blame me) but refers to eggs as "Chickens periods". This same bloke happily eats sea cucumber and crispy pigs ears in China. Different strokes and all that.
kent_white
Thought eggs were bad for cholesterol? That used to be the advice - avoid eggs and prawns. They are high in cholesterol but not the type which affects your blood result. That's usually from saturated fats.
