Zico Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 what are we paying him? somewhere between perfectly fair and decent Quote
kent_white Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 what are we paying him? Nobody will really know the answer to that until the new Football Manager is released. Not even Ben Amos. Quote
Horwich Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 It was reported he was on £10k a week at united. We cant afford players who are on somewhere around that once our parachute payments stop. Quote
mickbrown Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 what are we paying him? Less than Bogdan I'd wager. Quote
Casino Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Less than Bogdan I'd wager. agreed probably still more than we can afford 3k a week average Quote
MalcolmW Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 (edited) It was reported he was on £10k a week at united. We cant afford players who are on somewhere around that once our parachute payments stop. Maybe he was. (And maybe he wasn't.) But his career was going nowhere and he wasn't going to get game time. I think he'd be prepared to halve that to become a first choice. agreed probably still more than we can afford 3k a week average If our average is £3k, and that seems eminently sensible, then paying more for a basically sound goalkeeper seems worthwhile. For all we need goals we do need to be able to restrict opponents' scoring as far as possible. And he will have a sell-on value. Edited November 4, 2015 by MalcolmW Quote
Casino Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 he has unless we cant afford to pay him and we end up paying somebody to take him off us! always look on the bright side of life Quote
victor meldrew Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 i bet the wages are far more than most think. in 1999 mike whitlow was on £4000 a week. a certain young striker who is injured is on £6000 a week..deffo itk Quote

I heard somebody on Saturday complaining how Mavies is taking £40K per week and never seems to be fit Quote
deane koontz Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 How much was Mr N'Gog on for the 2 years he blessed us with his greatness? Quote

Casino Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 petrov 65k a week in division fcuking 2 with that wonderful hindsight thing, we'd have been better off not sacking megson even if we'd been relegated the team he left was fcuking miles better than the dross captain clap left behind Quote
tomski Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 I'm not sure how long this remember the good times shit rides with me anymore. It's in the past now where the current team is very much the now. Anyone who thinks we are well run have got to be on a wind up??? Pointing up to further in the Fred, stoke and wba are clearly better run than us, they can spend more money simply cos they can and we can spend 10k on woolery. I know which I prefer. Quote

Carlos Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Stoke are owned by a billionaire. Our Eddie only had a couple of hundred million. Had. Quote

It's a snapshot in time though mate Not long back it would have been said that us and Charlton where we'll run whilst Southampton etc were a fucking shambles It's a completely different story now 5 years down the line and it might be the complete opposite again It's all relative to who is in the premier league getting the TV money and associated benefits (sponsorship, gate receipts, player sales) vs who is in a lower division dying on their arse Of the 72 league teams not in the premier league how many who people say are genuinely well run? I can't think of any stand out candidates Even the big ones who can demand good gate receipts (Leeds, sheff weds, sheff Utd, Boro, Pompey, Bristol City, Brum) have all been a shambles off the pitch for a large part of the last few seasons Without the money of the Prem or a benefactor willing to lose millions then you have to get super lucky and win the lottery to do something. I.e find the new BSA and / or land on a couple of strikers like Burnley did with Austin & Ings Everyone is looking for the same thing though which makes it hard Quote

Money they spent in the close season, if they dont go up its got to hurt them. Quote
