Mounts Kipper Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 It's the same principle, albeit on a much smaller scale. People are complaining that Davies isn't investing money in the club. Why would he when he's getting no return? Just like you wouldn't keep spending money on an old banger. He's been throwing money at a problem that can't currently be fixed with the odd signing here and there and has said enough's enough. Anyone with a modicum of sense should understand that. Another analogy if youve got a hole in a bucket and you need carry water what do you do, chuck it away and die of thirst or do you buy a new bucket and stay alive? At the moment he is pondering whether to buy a new bucket. Quote

Anyone with a modicum of sense should understand that. Thing is, at this level it can be fixed by doing just that. Look at Birmingham, no money, little new talent, but some organisation and you go up the table. Burnley got promoted with modest signings doing much the same thing. Well organised, consistent setup, play to your strengths. Our problems could be dealt with in the same way and with some investment in a front man or creative attacker. The key word here is 'could'. Simply signing someone upfront is not going to sort it. Lennon needs to sort out bigger problems, not least confidence and consistency. We aren't dead in the water, he just needs to get a grip and get some modest support from the board. Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 If you're making a spear, you need sommat strong for the shaft and sommat sharp at the end, you don't try and make one with a load of ball-shy twixes and a melon on the end. Or sommat like that. Quote
MichaelEP Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Football has been destroyed by money. Players just don't care like they should. They earn a nice living even if they are rubbish and there is nothing we can do because people are willing to throw money at them. Unless you have money to burn you don't have much hope Quote
Casino Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Would it not be better to try and tart the car up and give yourself the best chance of getting a decent price for it? in this case, tarting it up is reducing the deficit ie we spend what we make Quote

I don't understand why he bought the club. It's not as if there are fortunes to be made from football (except by asset stripping or clever accounting). And having bought the club, why he did n't introduce tight budgetary control - he must have known what a leaky bucket he was buying. Quote

This is why I assume all that he is actually owed is the current value of the assetts and not the £180m on paper I just don't think he's the type to risk large amounts of his own dough In the meantime it was convenient for us to use him for financing at the same time he got to own the club Quote

gonzo Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 And our very own bubble match We should have latched on to the bubble market when it was boom time in 2012-13 Proper missed the boat there. Gartisde out. Quote
kent_white Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 People will only understand what you're going on about if your analogy is cake related. Everyone knows that. I would describe Lennon as missing certain key ingredients for his cake. Without it - Mary Berry will find it very difficult to gauge his baking skills. Quote
mannyroad58 Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Would she be on the list? Yes just below my female cousin in the Blackburn/Burnley section Quote
Guest Blixa Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 ...and Sam Volkes. And a top manager like Dyche. All cheap enough weren't they? They got promoted after selling Austin and Dyche only came in when the other bloke buggered off back to Bournemouth. Things fell nicely for them for sure, but they also played a consistent formation and team week in and week out. That had to help. Also, Burnley were almost as shit as is when they first came down from Prem. Things can change. Quote

Rizlar Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Problem with NL is like a lot of managers they tinker with the formation too much instead barring injuries stick to the same team and formation for several games.we are 16 games in our 4strikers are all shit so why doesn't he try clayton up top with mark Davies playing as support from midfield.i would play a 3 in midfield made up of spearing Danns and vela with a back 4 of Wilson wheaten prince and money when fit . They earn a nice living even if they are rubbish and there is nothing we can do because people are willing to throw money at them. Unless you have money to burn you don't have much hope Abso fucking lutely. Sky (and some others)has completely and totally fucked up the game that I grew up with and loved. I can't stop supporting Bolton, they are my club and I've followed them for nigh on 60 years but the rest of football has become total and utter bollocks with only half a dozen teams at most likely to win anything. If you believe anything else prepare for a lifetime of moaning and disappointment. Quote
kent_white Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Obvs it's a load of old bollocks - but the LOVS are suggesting that they've got insider information that the club is to be sold to a ex player led consortium within the month. In an Einstein like thought experiment - I've decided that if that were the case, I'd like that consortium to be led by Gudni Bergsson on account of the fact that he is a man of steel and also has a brain. Comical though it might be - I'd probably least like it to be led by Ivan Campo on account of the fact that I reckon he could well be crackers. Any suggestions as to your favourite/most horrifying scenarios? Quote
