FFS. This isn't Behind The Stands. Most folk come on here to read bullshit rumours and conjecture, with the odd bit of accurate stuff thrown in. It's boring as fuck reading your personal squabbles.

We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

West Ham interested in signing McAtee!

Sadly itโ€™s James from Forest. ๐Ÿ˜

Like you and everyone else I suspect I havenโ€™t a scooby doo but Iโ€™d assume itโ€™s somewhere between zero and the speculated ยฃ30m from new investment. Iโ€™d just have been interested in what the better informed considered realistic since itโ€™s almost certainly not the ยฃ30m.

You mention Billy Crellin. That was nothing about unfair treatment but having absolutely zero presence in the box.

Only the young dudes.

I'm an old dude now. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I highly doubt anyone on here has inside information on our transfer budget.

In terms of budget, i wouldn't worry lads.

Once the world cup is over and teams come in for prime donnarumma (bonham) and prime marcelo (conway), we'll be loaded. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Possible incoming keeper from good stock. Set to come in on loan

Two balls and a decent dong are worth a lot!

I know I got shot down but my mistake wasn't that my logic was wrong it was that I applied it to the wrong table in the accounts and extrapolated the numbers from there.

It was established thanks to DLH that at the start of last season (including the ยฃ30m that for various reasons we received a little bit later) the club had ยฃ22m in the pot.

Last season's losses need to be deducted from that.

In 2023-24 we had a trading loss of ยฃ11m and in 2024-25 ยฃ13m so let's say we lost ยฃ10m that would mean there being something like ยฃ12m in the pot at the start of this season.

As far as we know nothing else has been put in the pot since the ยฃ30m and we will not be breaking even this season therefore we will have a trading loss to cover.

The trading loss has to take priority over transfer business.

Meaning that until FV puts more into the pot most if not all of that ยฃ12m is committed to fund this season's end of year trading deficit.

That doesn't mean the club has zero transfer budget, FV can simply put the money in later in the year to cover what we may well spend in this window but where the problem is, is that ongoing trading losses in future years need to be planned and budgeted for. The less money remaining in the pot at the end of each season means the greater the club has to reduce costs (or sell players) to keep within budgeted trading losses year on year.

It's a balancing act if you will,

So can we sign anyone?

Yes.

We can spend something like ยฃ12m that we look to have in the pot but that ยฃ12m needs to be replaced by another ยฃ10m or so just that we can break even at the end of the season - and that will mean we start the next season with zero in the pot.

The issue is that we will be making another trading loss that season and the one after that and both need to be funded.

We can only put in a maximum of ยฃ33m in total covering this year and the two following and if FV put in ยฃ10m this year they only leave themselves with ยฃ23m to cover their losses for the next two seasons AND for the funding transfer budgets to improve the squad in those two seasons as well.

(That is assuming FV are willing and able to fund another ยฃ33m over the next three seasons).

We could add to that sum by selling on players that we've developed (Stephenson I imagine fits that sort of criteria) but we've sort of put all our eggs in one basket if we spend most/all we have in season one and don't make the savings/sales necessary to cover ongoing annual trading losses.

As I say it's all about balancing what we need now against what we need to have to cover the bills at the end of each of the coming seasons.

10-12m seems a fair estimate. Say 2M 5 loans and then you have 8-10M for 5-7 players

I'm not suggesting the budget IS ยฃ10-12m, what I'm suggesting is that is a fair estimate to what we probably have in the pot at the start of this season but ALSO cautioning that annual trading losses for this season and the next two will have to be budgeted for and we live under the SCR cap of only allowing ยฃ33m of investment from the owners to be put into the club.

I imagine FV would be more prudent than to empty the pot on year 1 of the 3 they are working to.

Just my opinion though.

I would have said ยฃ5-7 mil . Including signing on fees and agents fees.

I base this on absolutely nothing at all other than it seems about right in my head.
