But let's find out.He looks quick enough and fast feet which can create the yard needed, he is also looks to be fairly strong so can do the defensive work we will likely need more of this season. Pure pace without any sort of touch or strength is pointless. Also I must have watched a different Gale to you, he is rapid, but more lightweight and can't defend for toffee.

Let's hope he does well with us. After all - ACD had a stinker at Blackburn before he arrived with us.I know a WBA fan. When asked for her opinion, she replied "He's shit, we sent him back at Christmas". I replied that you were all shit pre-Xmas. She said yes but he's really really shit. The reality is they don't know how bad things can get, they haven't seen Etete or Dan.As usual I won't be judging him till I've seen him in the warm up shooting drills.

Relatively short term, no time to bed in, usually young lads - it often either works well or not at all. I still maintain that dropping into the WBA set up last season and trying to make an impact would have been difficult. Let’s hope we can create the environment for him to find what he once had.

Friday at 20:353 days Being a bit lazy maybe but can someone remind me how many loans we now have & how many can be in a matchday squad ... or be on the pitch at the same time ?

Friday at 23:153 days Preston North EndAndy Bayes, BBC Radio LancashireManager: Paul HeckingbottomLast season: 14thKey ins: Alfie Devine (Tottenham), Delano Burgzorg (Middlesbrough, loan), Jusef Erabi (Genk, loan).Key outs: Ben Whiteman (Wrexham)Expectations? Preston North End are expected to make further significant additions to the first-team squad before the transfer window closes. The club has already spent a record £6m on Alfie Devine and if North End can strengthen in the way they hope, supporters will be aiming for a repeat of last season's strong first-half, but without the dramatic decline that followed after the turn of the year.Strengths? North End have invested heavily in a new playing surface at Deepdale after the state of the pitch became a major issue last winter. It's cost north of £1.5m to make the required improvements. The previous surface made it difficult to play the style of football Heckingbottom wants and the club will hope the new pitch provides a platform for a more consistent campaign.Weaknesses? Squad depth remains a concern. Several influential loan players have returned to their parent clubs or moved elsewhere, while experienced figures such as Robbie Brady have departed. Lewis Dobbin and Harrison Armstrong, in particular, leave sizeable gaps to fill, while Daniel Jebbison's departure also reduces Preston's options in attack.Difference-maker? Alfie Devine is Preston's record signing and arguably their standout player. He impressed during his loan spell from Spurs last season and, having now joined permanently, there is every reason to believe he can take his game to another level. That said, he will need more quality around him if both he and the team are to reach their full potential.Jobi's prediction: 19thAlfie Devine - Magic Skills, Assists & Goals Edited Friday at 23:163 days by Sluffy

Saturday at 04:043 days Any other team as focused as we seem to be on 22/23/24 year olds?Seems like we’ve been trying to buy or line up prospects of that age with a view to keeping them and realising their potential for a while now, even though it hasn’t worked out yet. Like the idea of a young team that grows up together but ……….
Saturday at 04:553 days Yes i think this is more driven by Fergal and the Board rather than SS. The length of contracts is also telling. These players are brought in with one thing in mind develop them and sell them on for profit. Getting into the championship is the game changer....Take Dalby for instance if we had stayed down and he had a decent season we may get say 500k-1m if we try to sell him in lge1. If he does well this season and gets 10-15 goals and we sold him next season he would cost 5m upwards.....This league is barmy
