Does someone want to be a top lad (or girl) and kindly summarise our signings over the summer please?

I’ve purposefully tried to not take an interest and up until about 2 days ago I was pretty successful. Like a few others, the signings in the last few days and just the usual buzz of a new season starting means I’m now in the camp of “we’re going to win the league” and trying to plot my work diary so I can make it to fucking Northampton on a Tuesday night.

In fact, I’ll stop being a lazy twat and give it a go from what I’ve read on here - feel free to correct.

New keeper - highly regarded (?), broken leg but should be available within a few weeks. Expected to challenge Baxter?

Forino - centre back. Young? Ex Wycombe. Injury problems?

Lolos - no idea really. Attacking mid?

Arfield - experience in centre mid. Likely to play as one of the two?

Schon - left side I think. Winger but likely to play as left wing back?

Matete - cm?

Tutu - RWB?

McAtee - bit of a shithouse striker

Of these, are we expecting Schon and McAtee to possibly be starters from the off?

McAtee might not start tomorrow given he's only just arrived but I think you're right that he and Schon are two that have been signed to slot straight into our best starting eleven

Southwood  GK - think he got Cheltenham player of the year which wasn't hard but people rate him

Forino CB - Big brick shithouse moulded by Ainsworth who was also desperate to resign him when he went to QPR. Bit injury prone but played over 30 games last season

Lolos - Played centre mid for Crawley arriving in the box for goals but started out as a striker. Lot of hype about him  Assume he'd be challenging for attacking mid spot for us 

Garfield - We tried signing him when he left Rangers but he chose MLS instead. Probably do a job wherever needed in certain situations. Good mentor for Thomo

Schon - Started out as winger in Ajax academy, got converted to a LB/LWB by Ferhaver. Looks a right diminutive busy little fucker down the left

Matete - Shithouse CM who can play also, impressed against us a few times. Three consecutive promotions out of L1 bit misleading as think he joined all three half way through but good omen. Had a few injury problem recently

Tutu - Good pedigree, clearly an exciting talent but 60 odd games by the age of 25 is a gamble. Think he cost peanuts due to Bochum wanting rid, he had a decent little spell at Rotherham when they last went up from our league & also helped them win the pizza cup. Rotherham fans wanted him back 

McAtee - Relentless presser from the front, not scared to shoot from anywhere, was a pain in the arse against us last season. Can play all over the attack

 

Suspect Schon 800K & McAtee 1m+ starters, the rest competition & depth as well as filling our weaknesses of last season

I think Arfield will be the leader and experience we need.

That would be a real knock back down to earth... but it kinda makes sense.

I can see us accepting an offer pushing £2m, which would be a hell of a turn of profit, and pretty much exemplifies the model we're working to. Especially when we know Rovers would have plenty of money to spend (theyve just turned down £6m for Szmodics). It would also pay for much of our business done so far.

I love the idea of having 4 good strikers for the division (+ Dan!) but that's surely us being super wishful. Although, as Swanny says above, he's probably not our best any more. Collins has looked great, and while I don't know much about McAtee, he's our first 7-figure signing in how long (since Spearing?!)... he's not a benchwarmer. Even Vic started to show his worth back end of last year.

Charles is a 20 goal a season striker at this level Collins will score 20 but the rest of the strikers have t shown that .
Loosing Charles would be a blow to promotion we would have to gamble on bringing someone else in and hope they can replicate . 
evatt has said himself the strikers need to produce if we’re playing a forward 3

Don't care how many strikers we now have, I definitely don't want to see Charles sold. What if Collins is injured in the first few games. Who's our main goalscorer then?

On preseason form and given he’s the only physical striker in the building I’d not be selling Vic…. Unless Connolly from Hull is similar type and he’s the replacement.

We actually attempted promotion with Cameron Jerome and Bod up front last season. 

Plus more shite wing backs than soft mick and defenders on their wrong side. 

More the merrier and keep everything we can for those wank dark months.

Connolly is small and mobile, not a vic replacement. Can't see us getting another forward now, even if Vic leaves. Lolos can fill in up top as the target man if needed.
