I'd hate to see him leave but the realities of where we are, suggest to me that a big offer for a player in the last year of his contract, he'd be off.

Well, he's worth a new contract with us & it'd tie him in, plus it'd give a resale value & time if we felt a need to move him on.

I assume this time last year we gave him a two year one so both parties could review thar, about now.

Much as I'd hate to have an Amos situation again.

What would be a bit shit, is a very late bid that the club can't refuse, and he goes, with no time to get another in.

Maybe that's why we brought one in beforehand, in which case he needs to be a good un.

I think it might be unlikely that Baxter would sign a new contract with us at the current time

I think Southwood might've been brought in in anticipation of Baxter leaving too

I'd rather be wrong on both counts, though

I suppose anyone in the last year of their contract, together with those down the pecking order.

Dunno where Vic is up to, but on current form, he wouldn't be one I'd want to see gone. Unless big money came in.

"On current form", he's only played about 15 minutes 😀

He’s had a decent preseason too.

Oh right...I don't personally count pre-season but fine if you do (I remember a load of fuss over how well Delfounso was playing a couple of pre-seasons ago and as soon as the season started it was clear he was never going to start another league game for us!).  Anyway hopefully August for Vic is as good as it was last year (4 goals).

You're not going to be happy if you're Coleman or Southwood not even making the bench surely.

No more so than any other player who, yesterday, or more so in the future when everybody is fit, is left out of the squad.

I would say the feeling of disappointment being left out of the squad would be maximised more as an outfield player, as you would really start to question your role in the squad if you’re not on the bench.

As a keeper surely you know you are a number 2/3 and your chances are going to be limited, especially from the bench. More so the in the knowledge that Evatt rarely has a keeper on the bench.

At least one of the keepers will know they are getting a game Tuesday and in the the other cups.

Pre-season might be less intense, but of all the strikers, he's the one who was scoring.

It doesn't matter to me anyway but Collins also scored a couple (v WBA and Vale), same as Vic.  Collins had a poor game yesterday though and I'm his biggest fan.

Wasen't he fucked and not played a lot

we took a chance and give him a 2 year deal

if he has out about him and Loyal

he would sign a new contract if we was to put one on the table

Hes boycotting, the big tart

Him and @tomskiboycotting together?

Do we have anymore?

You'd think we were relegated on zero points and the manager kept his job after telling the fans they are cunts :D

In my head I’ve decided Baxter is off. Thought it unusual we signed Southwood at the time, who I think is decent, and it certainly surprised me that he was coming in as backup.

I also noticed an interview with Southwood about being up to scratch with our system. That’s the case even for reserve keepers, but still noteworthy.

Baxter threw his shirt into the crowd at the end of the game, which could be a farewell I guess. Reality is, he’s a saleable asset in the last year of his contract and if a good enough offer came in, he’s off.

I’m in the same boat as you. Everything feels like it points to a toodoloo. Let’s hope he stays.

2 year contact always a risk but see no reason Baxter would be off, he was good last season when fit,  but we got him for nothing last season so can't really see somone coming in with a bid when he's out of contract again next season, as good as he is

key part of our promotion plans so would have to be a good offer

would rather risk losing him next summer for nothing

but if we do get promoted, no reason he won't stay

Doesn't sound like he's going anywhere any time soon.

Probably waiting to see which Division we're in next year before committing long term.
