Reading it, for me, he's here as competition for Sheehan as much as anything else

That's what I was saying a while back which ruffled a few feathers, but the more I think about it the more I think it's about options rather than straight competition because they are have different skillsets. Depends on the opposition, the situation in the game etc etc.

Just because Matete has played a blinder recently doesn't necessarily mean he'll start every game ahead of Sheehan - might be used to protect a lead or shore up the middle if we're getting overrun.

The other thing is that last season we were fairly dependent on Sheehan creating something , so we were stifled when he was marked out of it but I reckon Schon, Collins, McAtee, Matete, Lolos when fit are all creative.

Going to be interesting to see how Evatt decides to use him - but it's not "like for like" and they could even be used in tandem. It should also be interesting to see how Demps is used on Sunday if he gets on.

It’s great that pretty much everybody in the squad could now be called on as a starter but that brings a problem because some will miss out even for the bench, especially if he includes a keeper on there. At the moment we have a few injuries but when everyone’s fit I’d hate to be IE choosing who to leave out. That can only be good for the club though because if anybody in this league has a stronger squad than us I haven’t seen it. Injuries and loss of form should be well catered for with strong competition all over the pitch so bring it on, top of the table please.

Following last year they'll get ample playing time, we've got to be eligible for the "most injuries" award...

In terms of those leaving you're look at those in the final year of their contract I reckon. Morley may go on leave I guess.

To be absolutely honest I wouldn't bat an eyelid if we sold Sheehan provided we had a replacement lined up. Even if out of necessity it was a young Prem loanee.

Wouldn't be overly fussed if we sold Iredale either - again provided there was an appropriate replacement that didn't affect the squad limit rules.

Morley, Iredale, Dan, all squad members, if they know that fine, but at league one, can't see us getting better that are happy to just sit on the sidelines with cameo appearances.

The only way you can improve your stock is through gradually phasing folk out and buying in better. That's how you progress. When they reach the last year of their deals its up for grabs.

Tony looking like going to Saudi

What a sad state of affairs

Absolutely.

Genuinely is about money, and only money.

Winning stuff is the Premier league is a bit different to smaller crowds in the desert.

What would it do for his England career too?

While I think it’s wank, I don’t blame anyone for going.

That's a very sad outcome if it comes about & questions his footballing ambition.

He may well think, given his very long ban last year, 'fck "em, the authorities stuffed me royally why should I give a shit ?'
