Solid signing. In an ideal world he can be a rotation player covering CB and he can play full back too. I hope we get another starter to partner Forino.

My only concern is whether he stays fit

Dont see him as a starter,maybe another Christie who will come on with 20 to go.

Wouldn’t surprise me if we saw more of 3 at the back next season so I think he’ll play more than we expect. Fitness pending. Also more than able to play LB

Indeed. We had times last season where we just completely lost our fucking minds. Crying out for a leader and some composure, especially when it was Toal and GJ at the back.

Seems a top player if we can keep him fit, get a feeling the 2 that signed would have been joining anyway regardless of the league we were in. Given everyone is off right now these were probably signed in all but name months ago. Suspect the big signings will be coming closer to the start/early preseason.

Never seen him play that I’m aware of and doesn’t seem to have overly impressed anywhere but he has played a good few games at higher levels so seems a good addition to the squad. I still think we need a quality left sided Centre back though to partner Forino so I’d expect him to be more a squad player than a regular starter. I think Toal’s the weak link, never properly recovered from his injury in the Papa Johns and I’d be moving him on and giving Temple a chance or bringing in another right footed CH with more experience but on a free this is a good start to business.

Mixed feelings on this one. I was callng for solid Championship experience and this lad has it in bundles. The fact he made little impression in a relegated Oxford side last season is something of a concern. His recent nomadic existence is also a wee bit of a cause for concern . Still, as others have said, if Rangers and Liverpool signed him there was clearly something ticking boxes with the lad. Let's hope it is still there.

I do have a feeling Davies is a Richard Taylor rather than a George Johnston replacement. We need a lot of new defenders. We obviously released Johnston and Tutu but also sold and never replaced Forrester and Dacres Cogley in Janury. We went in to that play off final with five fit defenders. To be frank we skimped on the defence in the last half of the season and were lucky not to have a bad run of injuries in that department. Time to end the neglect re the defence. We need quality and depth.

Yeah I would agree with most of the verdicts, it's a fine signing and one in happy enough with.

When it comes to the defence as a whole though, Christie triggered an extension but I hope that doesn't dissuade us from signing two new right backs, I would also look to get a bit of money for Toal and add another two CBs on top of Davies signing.

I'd loan Temple and Inwood out to get some football league experience as well ideally.

I believe we are also after an experienced left back to help out Conway. Not Matt Targett though.
