If we needed confirmation of how difficult it will be to compete in the championship next season, today has underlined the task facing us. League 1 teams can pay more in wages for our out of contract midfield general whilst Bristol city have spent 5.3 million on a new forward! Bring it on!

We had a massive wage bill and went down

Huddersfield didn't and went up

Absolutely. No white flag from me just shows the difference in budgets. I think we need to be organised and resolute and PP is just the man!

Pratley has one big advantage over Spearing. He's bigger and he covers more ground in 90 mins. I'm a fan of Spearing but when we were under the cosh in the Championship we always seemed to be slightly short handed in centre mid. This was particularly pronounced when Spearing and Medo were in combination. I know having midfielders who are there to close down and cover every blade of grass is a bit old fashioned but every side needs one or two. Spearing does his best, he has qualities, but his little legs can't cover the ground of a Per Frandsen, Kevin Nolan, Jason McAteer. Consequently he's just not quite in their class. Admittedly this is just one of the differences between Championship strugglers and top half sides.

You shortist bastard,

Do I need to start a list of shortarses who have been world class

Will Buckley is coming according to the Sun. Impressed if we get him

For people like me who have never heard of him - he is a 27 year old winger who made 96 appearances for Brighton before a £2.5 million  move to Sunderland in 2014. He made 22 appearances in 3 years for Sunderland and spent the last 2 seasons on loan spells at  Leeds, Birmingham and Sheff Weds

Aye that's the spirit :)

Bit of a cliche but get the team spirit and work ethos right and you always have a chance.

Look how badly Forest did last year and Udders by contrast as Zico says

Had trials with us in 2006, which came to nothing.

Alan Ball for a start!!! The classic Bolton Wanderers cock up story as told by generations.

You just need other types around him and we've not always succeeded in the delivering that.
