I'm with Youri on this, you make one comment regarding a misrepresentation of facts and it turns into 'Crawley says British food is shit.'

I've explained it in the plainest way I can, historically Asian food was further developed than ours, due to climate, development (the ottomans had one of the largest empires in the world) it is not to say that British food is shit (as I have said above), just as it's blindly stupid to say that a rise in illnesses such as Ricketts is down to origin of birth, and not poverty. Again, that is not to say that these things are not interlinked.

Sadly, the loudest and most shrill voices drown out any subtlety of discussion. No wonder Casino just makes funny asides, it's not worth pointing out, it even voicing another option without the idiot klaxon sounding and it dissolving into those odd threads with three people agreeing with themselves over a tangentale issue.

Dreary me!  Another self flagellator. Africa and India are where they are  today because of religion and tribalism and not because of the British. so you can get off your knees!

We played our part - not all negative though, far from it.  Can't speak much for Africa but I reckon parts of India would still be sacrificing humans had we not crossed cultural paths.

And they love bureaucracy more than we do . . .

I take it you've never heard of partition then?

John Byrom, Neil Whatmore, Garry Jones, Tony Caldwell, Frank Worthington, Tony Philliskirk, Nathan Blake have all done it for more than "a while" and would all start ahead of Ricketts in my starting 11. Sure, he was a good striker but I still say there have been better in my time watching.

Philliskirk before Ricketts mate? Struth. I was forced to have a TP haircut for years thanks to y dad but even I can acknowledge ricketts was on another planet let alone level to him

That's the beauty of this site, surely? :)

But you have no argument for the others on my list?

Bar Blake all before my watching time. I loved Blake as well but think Ricketts goes above him as well on the logic he delivered in the top flight. Ricketts was unstoppable for a couple of seasons

Blake scored 12 goals in his first (only) Premier League season with us. So did Ricketts.

Blake left shortly after relegation and scored three in 11 at Blackburn on the way to being relegated some more.

Ricketts waddled about for a bit taking penalties (see Philliskirk) before we robbed Middlesbrough blind.

I think Blake is the seventh highest scoring relegated player in Premier League history.*

*might be made up.

Am i right in thinking Ricketts scored most of his goals in the first half of that season ?

Then his head got turned by the transfer talk.

I just remember for a period of time when he was in front of goal knowing he was going to score whether it was - left foot, right foot or head. Calm as fuck one chance.

He scored once in January and that was that. We had a few seasons under Allardyce where we strugggled after Christmas.

You have to put Djorkoeff in any list of best strikers, even though he was not an out and out striker.

I don't know his scoring stats but what a wonderful player.

There is no finer meal on planet earth than a well cooked Sunday roast.

Hallelujah, another rare occasion when both left and right are correct! :)

A good Sunday roast is fantastic fodder, as is a proper chippy tea.

But my go to food is hardly ever British cuisine.

Italian, Indian, Mexican, Chinese are all above every British dish bar those 2 for me.

Now a good English brekkie can also be good. If you buy the sausage bacon and black pud from a proper butcher it can be amazing. Ours does treacle cured bacon. Loads of taste without the insane saltiness of supermarket bacon.

Add a couple of poached fresh free range eggs and some toasted buttered spelt bread and you are there! Fuck Croissant and your continental breakfast of cold sliced meat and cold boiled eggs.
