Casino Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Spoons are ok Might as well be in bolton, though Quote
Big E Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 It's near impossible to get served in good time at any spoons on a Saturday Can't be arsed with it, rather go to a normal pub where every fucker isn't ordering food Even if it's £2 a pint cheaper you are saving £20 max. Not worth it Quote
leigh white Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Brum was a cracking place in the late 70s, bags of pubs in the city centre, apart from the strip down Broad st, it lacks character. Quote

Mounts Kipper Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Exactly. Have never understood the 'spoons' love in They serve good choice of well kept real ale, many other pubs have limited choice and poorly kept ale so for me cost has nothing to do with it. Quote
The Wanderer Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Promised my lad I'd take him villa park at the start of the season. The little Fuckers only gone and remembered. Guessing there's loads of tickets left so pay on the day won't be risking it will it? Quote

Defeats the object of a day out imo Quote
bolty58 Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Villa 1 Superwhites 4. Magic mushrooms, free and easy yeah! Quote
Biggish Dave Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 My hotel is round the corner from briar rose spoons so it's a convenient meeting point. Will be moving on to a proper pub once all are present and correct. Spoons are usually easy to find and with my 50p a pint off coupons, the beer is free Quote

captainmed Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 The reason Spoons tend to be popular for away days is that its generally a meeting point, every town has one & away fans are always allowed etc... Generally therefore its a better atmosphere with fellow fans and after all isn't that what away days are for? If you want to go into a real ale bar, sit on your own, with no TV and talk with farmers and train spotters who have no interest in football then that's your choice too. Quote
jturner Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Just reading a match report of one of the glory nights under Sam at Villa Park, i'd forgotten Gavin McCann got sent off for Villa for hitting Emerson Thome! and Jlloyd scored their second to get them within a goal I was on tele me at the end on the front row celebrating, happy memories Quote

Yes, because they're the only two choices one is ever faced with. Quote
Big E Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 The reason Spoons tend to be popular for away days is that we don't like lending ourselves a fiver to enjoy the day Quote

gonzo Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Drinking in an 'away fans' pub is my idea of absolute hell. Plastic glasses and surrounded by whoppers throwing beer all over everyone doing the bouncy and singing Munich songs. Give me a farmer or trainspotters any day of the week Quote
