Fascinating interview on Emma Barnett with Former Financial Times Editor Lionel Barnett just now. He says in a meeting with Cummings in 2016 he challenged the premise of £350m money for the NHS and told him this would be a drop in the ocean compared to the overall economic damage caused by leaving the EU.  Cummings replied cynically that 'we know that, you know that but the average person in the street has no idea'. BOOM.

Given the FT has made a number of statements this year, which have had serious doubts about their validity, and at times vehemently condemned as being factually incorrect, I doubt anyone in government will be sweating.

Barnett can't hide her personal disregard for the current government, neither it seems, can the former editor, whose name is Barber.

Did he offer any context or full story?

Assume a visa needed for each country you’ll be working in, same as it is for all other nations?

It's not quite so simple. Companies have to prove they need to employ a non EU Citizen ahead of an EU Citizen. If us as a Brit have exactly the same qualifications as say a Czech person, the job has to be given to the Czech guy. That was part of the Freedom of Movement regulations. The other thing you will have to do is pay your Tax in that Country. All the British Guys who work at my place have had to register with the local Authorities to pay Tax here after 31st December, whereas when we were still in the EU they could pay it in their own Country. It might sound as it not being a problem, but as a Married person living in the UK but working in Germany you will be classed for Tax purposes as being single unless you actually live in Germany along with your Wife.

whether he actually said it or not (and I'm sure it would have come out long before now if he had), it doesn't make any difference, we've already left, so we just have to get on with it

Fingers crossed some sort of deal will be done, as it's only around 50 days until we potentially go WTO, which I think everybody is in agreement, wouldn't be be a good thing for us

We aren’t leaving on WTO terms

I may send this to a couple of large company owners I know.

They're so desperate for information I think a football forum post will count right now.

Tell them to man up and get Mounts to give them a call, he'll be able to reassure them that they'll be getting a deal better than they had before, and it'll be totally frictionless, that should put their mind at ease. If they don't believe you, just keep shouting "Spitfires" at them until you go red in the face

I used his wrong surname above, it is Lionel Barber.  Why would he make a claim like this if it wasn't true ?

Of course it doesn't matter regarding brexit but it just confirms what we all knew about Cummings.

What do “we all know about Cummings” enlighten us all.

Who knows, but it's not beyond the realms of possibility that an Editor of a newspaper might not tell the truth all the time.....I didn't hear the interview, but I'd hope that Barnett (who I'd love a go on) would enquire as to why has it has taken him 4 years to tell people, and why didn't he do it at the time?

Dominicski Cummingsikov is an agent of the FSB and a massive traitor.

He’s a genetically engineered humanoid made from the same DNA sequence as Comrade Putin.

Ultimate mission is to make the UK easier to invade in order to become a Soviet State and enclose continental Europe in a Cossack pincer by 2035.

It will be the New Soviet Socialist Republic’s (NSSR) most heavily militarised area, from which a simple and short invasion will be launched.

The NSSR will then be the leading superpower on earth and London will be renamed as Putinsburg.

Start learning Russian, comrades.

Well we had better return to the EU and turn the clock back to May 2016 then eh.

The fact that you are posting this puts you in the same category as another democracy blind desperado ...D Trump.

Pathetic.

Cummings wanted all contents from the meeting to be off the record for five years apparently. That was his pre-condition to meeting Barber and discussing brexit.  It is a very interesting interview and he talks about a meeting with Trump at the start of his presidency.

There were other journalists present also so I guess they could either deny or confirm this story but sounded extremely plausible to me.  Barber said at the time he could not believe the level of cynicism that Cummings employed.
