But we have left EU. We had a vote on that.
We closed our borders yesterday. They had a vote on that.
So surely this is all now sorted.

On a serious note might be good audience to test vaccines on.

Crikey,  your mates in SUTR would have a field day with that one 😄

Perhaps they could have tried similar protests back at home.

They wouldn't, because they would get told to fuck off. Our weak as piss Government will cave in though, and move them somewhere "a bit nicer" soon enough

Exactly.

I've no doubt that the place isn't the ritz, but fucking hell, folk over here can't get homes that easily.

Can't stop them trying though especially when the French are turning a blind eye to it.

If I was the French, I'd be doing the same....they don't want them lurking around in their country any longer than they need to, so it's obvious they'll wave them through, they always have done.

It's so difficult to stop, the only thing we can do, and people wouldn't like it, is have gunboats patrolling the channel, if they see any, then order then back or blow them out of the water. Believe me, after a few thousand have been killed, and they see we're serious, then they'll soon stop trying

Not sure that is what people voted for.

Can't stop them trying. And the fact brexit is soon to complete is being used by smugglers/traffickers to frighten victims into trying as soon as possible. Despite poor weather/seasons.

But we can certainly make our own rules and send them back much quicker (once the bill is passed in Parliament, that is), and is used effectively.

Just take them back to France. They say they won't take them back, but they harbour them readily, so just drop them back off.

That's a bit harsh 😄

Their own flags; dont go there. Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Libya etc etc. Soon be battling over who owns the strip of land between the dorms and the bogs.

Already been ructions at Penally between rival factions, doesn't bode well.

In other news......good girl, well said 👏 👍

What's the reason for all today's drama at No. 10? Is Boris offering his arse to Barnier or what?

In one

Turns out Boris still loves the EU after all and is going to sign off on a deal that basically concedes everything to Brussels.

Cummings and co. Need a no deal to assuage their shadowy overlords and are about to go into hiding before they end up swimming with the fishes.

Not often I'd agree with someone like Ian Lavery but this does expose the democracy-denying that went on between 2016 and 2019. In its own way it was every bit as offensive as what Trump is up too now. I was and remain appalled at the sneering that went on at the democratic outcome of a referendum. Sneering being a word used here. And some on here were guilty of it too.

Lots of interesting stuff about the disconnect between working class communities and trendy, lefty middle-class graduates. The subject of patriotism crops up too. Always guaranteed to make your smug "progressive" squeamish in a way that it never did with mainstream Labour for years.

All harsh. All true. Liberals need to start listening and get out of their postgraduate student politics.

Cummings staying according to the bbc. As is the brexit negotiator.

Allegra Stratton; not in the same league as Trump's communication bod.

With 1 week to go you’d hope he’d see it through.

Fascinating interview on Emma Barnett with Former Financial Times Editor Lionel Barber just now. He says in a meeting with Cummings in 2016 he challenged the premise of £350m money for the NHS and told him this would be a drop in the ocean compared to the overall economic damage caused by leaving the EU.  Cummings replied cynically that 'we know that, you know that but the average person in the street has no idea'. BOOM.
