leigh white
Probably get back to where we are now in 50 years time, a cracking move that red bus baffling all the punters. If you think the Covid panic buying was bad, that was a little dress rehearsal for things to come.
Site Supporter Cheese Posted December 4, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted December 4, 2020 (edited) Things are going to get really grim in a few weeks. Site Supporter Spider Posted December 4, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted December 4, 2020 Don’t underestimate the power of being a patriot. Members bolty58
Fucking drama queens. The Project Fear mob have never stopped. FFS Mick -give it a rest mate. '50 years time' - well, that counts you out then. 'Panic buying'? Give over. Haven't you heard that we are moving to a plant based diet? Grow your own including dock leaves to wipe yer arse with. Interesting how the same crowd who were bellowing that fishing rights were three fifths of fuck all are now screeching about it being a deal breaker. In truth, this is what they hope. Fishing is worth next to nowt and means fuck all to me But Ardent Brexiteers had it as a central pillar of their “getting back control” mantra as you well know. Now it’s looking like Boris is backing down all over the place, suddenly the fisherfolk are being cast aside by the gammons. Its all very amusing 😊😊😊 Edited December 4, 2020 by Spider

Site Supporter Winchester White Posted December 4, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted December 4, 2020 Seems Macron wants more fish if the gutter press are to be believed. That's why it's a decent bartering chip for us - let's be honest, I'm sure we'd all happily let the EU trawlers come right up to our beaches and take as many fish as they want, if it means we get a proper trade deal. A few fishing communities might suffer, but really, who gives a fuck - they contribute nothing to the GDP of the country, so fuck them. If we can keep the industry and still get a good deal, then that's nice......but if we have to sacrifice that industry to get the deal we want, then we have to do that. Although, no doubt, fisher-folk would still be bleating on about it like those fucking miners still do decades later - if an industry isn't contributing to the GDP, then we need to sack it off, not keep it because we have some romantic notion that it's proving we can stand on our own two feet
Ani
Looking forward to next 4 years of Brexiteers claiming we have a deal, just like they said, and it is a good deal that lets us grow. Remainers claiming we have a deal, just like they said , and is a shit deal and we need to grow to catch up. And you know neither side will alter on jot of their view and we will never really know. It might come down to who posts the most Twitter links.

That's pretty much where we are, especially as hardly anybody has nailed their colours to the mast to say what they would or wouldn't be happy with. At least Mounts have stated what he wants, which is more than some are willing to do. Like most, I think we'll end up with a deal pretty similar to what we already have, it'll probably be slightly worse for the next 5-10 years, but with the possibility that we can hopefully improve as we move forward. You would also have to hope that we don't do too much damage economically in that time. The big thing will be to see what we decide to tie ourselves to the EU on, with regards to standards and the environment, and what we say we will or won't do with regards to state aid. The worst situation that we can find ourselves in, and it's the one that wanker Farage says is coming, is us being half in and half out on somethings so we have to abide by their laws and we don't have any say in making them....hopefully that won't happen though Edited December 4, 2020 by Sweep

Mounts Kipper
This fishing issue sums up the EU, it’s our water, the French want access, they are prepared or so it seems to pull the rug if we don’t agree, the arrogance is astounding, and yet many remainers back the French over this, stand your ground Boris, tell them to whistle. Do they really? - I say keep our waters, unless we can trade them for something we want....which is the Government stance as well I reckon. If we're already going to get everything we want, then keep them - it's fairly simple really If they pull the rug, because we won't allow access, then that's their prerogative, and we just move on, and we're entitled to do that, it's what we voted for. GTF. Here's the thing, and why I said no one has fully explained it, if we want to send stuff to the eu, then its right we make stuff to their standards. Obviously. If we want to make stuff to a different standard for a different market, then fine- presumably that's what we've all been doing anyway. As for our own standards, those of the EU seem have been fine for ages so reasonable to use them. However that's for us to decide, and hopefully improve upon as necessary. Seems frankly obvious, and I've yet to hear an explanation of why this isn't the case or why its something completely different.
